Two new Puppy Linux derivatives are built using the Bookworm Build Script. They are compatible with Debian Bookworm – upcoming Debian 12. One version of 1070 MB (the ISO file) is for UEFI computers. The other one of 903 MB (the ISO file) is for non-UEFI computers and VirtualBox/VMware. The non-UEFI version can run i full screen in VirtualBox, since VirtualBox Guest Additions are pre-installed. Watch this screenshot… Compatible with Debian 12 means that you can use the apt command (apt...

This is similar to Vanilla Dpup, but more like a traditional, conservative Puppy release. Notable differences are: 1) Built from Ubuntu packages and packages built from source; the entire process is automated and reproducible 2) Uses kernel 5.15.x 3) Comes as a traditional ISO image (with UEFI support, using Ubuntu's boot loader) 4) Doesn't have the installer and the updater (and doesn't have weekly updates) like Vanilla Dpup, so you're on your own here 5) Doesn't come with all extra .sfs...

The recent discussion on creating a friendlier Puppy motivated me to critically examine the remaster of fossapup64 9.5 that I install for others. Overall Objective - provide new users with a version that minimizes the frustration of adopting a new operating system. Include these components: -a simplified desktop -a simplified taskbar -a background and theme that presents both style and tech. First impressions count. Taking a cue from Microsoft, their last three Windows, 8, 10, and 11 were...

KLV-Boxer-alpha2 is at it's core the same as KLV-Airedale (https://archive.org/details/Puppy_Linux_KLV_Airedale). Only some utility packages are different., like viewnior instead of ristretto The system is really alpha and no JWM customization utilities are included. For those times when you have wet, cold, and weak fingers and can't get the filler cap off your stove. And you don't have pliers and would not want to chew up the cap even if you did have pliers. This wrench is the thing. I printed my prototype in carbon reinforced nylon with a moderate infill and it weights only 5 grams. With Shapeways you can choose the material but stay away from platinum or it gets expensive. But, it's your money. I can only test it on what I have, but I can say that it...

This is an early technical preview of the development happening in https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/pull/2265, and a call for Puppy fans looking to help test/debug something new, shiny and super buggy. This is not a Puppy you can (or want) to use as your daily driver. This is dpup based on Debian Bullseye packages, but with a twist: JWM and the ROX-Filer pinboard are running on top of a fullscreen Xwayland under Cage, so this Puppy uses Wayland rather than X.Org, but not really....

The tgz file solves that, with INSTRUCTIONS in the txt file You MUST keep the tgz file if you remaster at any time. It contains commonly used applications like a browser and a text editor, but some things, like a word processor are omitted. ScPup provides Woof-CE Puppy Linux builds using Slackware-Current components. The builds are traditional Puppy Linux configurations with JWM as the desktop/panel/window manager and ROX as the file manager. The builds use the same configurations as LxPupSc with the exception of no LXDE. The look and feel is similar to UPupBB. Both 32-bit and 64-bit builds are available.

ArtStudio64 XFCE. It is my first puppy Linux that I created with the XFCE desktop. This puppy is also a fully equipped audio, graphics and video studio. Of course, it is also suitable for common applications such as the Internet and Office, and contains OpenOffice, Firefox and the PaleMoon Browser. Also has ArtStudio64 XFCE about the possibility in addition to the mandatory adrv, fdrv, ydrv and zdrv .sfs also BDRV , CDRV , GDRV , MDRV , NDRV and VDRV to .sfs use. New from 666philb Fossapup64 built with focal-fossa components This differs a bit from my usual builds by being more modular. sort of a three pups in one. Rather than just the main puppy.sfs and zdrv.sfs (kernel) i've utilised puppys ydrv, fdrv & adrv utility. So say for instance you just want a bare bones system, you can remove the adrv & ydrv and get a small 180mb puppy. it can go even smaller if you use tahrpups firmware in the fdrv to something nearing 150mb. You could even...

new from jrb, a remix of Barry Kauler's Quirky April In my continuing quest for small, efficient OS's suitable for use on older ram challenged machines, I have reworked the two Quirky Aprils from BarryK, the master of efficient, unbloated compiling. They are the direct descendants of Puppy Wary5 and Racy5 and share much of the same characteristics. Both of these include mesa graphics accelerations so should meet your video needs. (unless you have nvidia?) My adaptations use the initrd.gz,...

New from Barry Kauler, described as 'scratching an itch', a new pup but built with an old woofq from 2012, likely to be incomplete: This pup is a weird beastie. Looks like EasyOS, but also like a somewhat broken vintage-2012 Puppy Linux. Broken, because I got to the desktop then stopped working on it. For example, created a save-file at shutdown, but it wasn't found at next bootup -- a mere detail, sure that can be fixed. However, finding all the little issues and fixing them will take many...

The transition has now been made to build Quirky from Ubuntu Bionic Beaver 18.04.1 DEBs. This follows less than a month after the release of Xerus 8.6, so pretty much the same, just later packages right through

Pyro compiled in oe-qky-src, my port of OpenEmbedded, cross-compiled on a x86_64 host PC, for a aarch64 target. These packages have been imported into woofQ What I would like to do is boot a aarch64 Easy/Quirky distro on my RPi3. Want to get it going quickly, and the easiest way will be to use the Bamarni Pi64 Debian-based aarch64 distro:

The goal of Obarun is to provide an alternative for people looking for more simplicity and transparency in maintaining their systems. Obarun is not designed with beginners to Linux in mind. On other note, Obarun is neither a distribution of its own, is nor is it pure Archlinux, it's a Build Concept. Obarun is based on Archlinux, but incorporates several changes. For the moment Obarun is only available for x86-64 architectures. Systemd replacement is made by S6 supervision suite as init and...

MBPUP Linux is a linux disro remastered by MBinnun, based on the BionicDog Linux distro (which is itself a remastering of Ubuntu Bionic Beaver 18.04). Unlike BionicDog and any other Puppy-like distros, MBPUP supplies a full featured Lubuntu (Ubuntu + LXDE environment) and intended to run on today's hardware. Its goal is to have a fully functional desktop from a live CD/USB containing fully supported firmware, but also to be lightweight and super easy to remaster (so you'll be able to create as...

from ticoo1 on the Hungarian forum I made a new Stretch, code name DPup Stretch HU 8.04. Eg: Kernel 4.9.92 Huge 32 bit Pae Pale Moon 27.8.3 Firefox ESR 52.7.3 VLC 3 DeaDBeeF Avidemux Pinta, etc. I put it into older Intel, ATI, NVIDIA, etc. Driver may also help. Fdrv ... sfs also has many drivers, so it has to run well on multiple machines. I made a NoPae kernel and work well, but I put a Pae when I'm interested in doing one and putting it. ISO has traditionally been made to...

A Puppy Linux NAS from jafadmin "I created a savefile for 571 that has Samba, Cryptsetup, sshd, LuksTools, Nano, and PaulBx1's pupsave converter, shc, etc .. The savefile is encrypted aes128 and is only 128 meg. I chose Precise 571 for this because it is 32-bit and supports a huge range of hardware. There isn't a lot of hardware out there that you can't boot with it. Also, I have the most familiarity with that distro. I designed this to run from a thumbnail USB flashdrive. Create a...
