We show that the "Information Paradox" follows from inappropriate considerations on the geodesics of a Schwarzschildian manifold created by a gravitating point-mass. In particular, we demonstrate that the geometric differential equation which gives the radial coordinate as a function of the angular coordinate of the geodesics does not represent fully all the consequences following from the metric tensor. We remark that: i) it does not yield the conditions characterizing the circular...

When we start studying Quantum Mechanics the most difficult part to understand is the so-called Copenhagen interpretation. Usually beginners skip over this part, which is a wise choice in a certain sense. However, some researchers feel guilty about skipping over this. In this paper we try to give a proof to it. Our method is based on embedding it into decoherence theory. The method is of course not complete, but some researchers may feel relieved. To the best of our knowledge this is the finest...

The FITS is the standard file format in astronomy, and it has been extended to agree with astronomical needs of the day. However, astronomical datasets have been inflating year by year. In case of ALMA telescope, a ~ TB scale 4-dimensional data cube may be produced for one target. Considering that typical Internet bandwidth is a few 10 MB/s at most, the original data cubes in FITS format are hosted on a VO server, and the region which a user is interested in should be cut out and transferred to...

Those that do not sow care little about such mundane things as equinoxes or planting seasons, or even crop rotation for that matter. Wherever and whenever the reavers reave, the mood is always foul and the nights are never warm or pleasant. For the rest of the good folks of Westeros, however, a decent grasp of the long-term weather forecast is a necessity. Many a maester have tried to play the Game of Weather Patterns and foretell when to plant those last turnip seeds, hoping for a few more...

We calculate the complete next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to the $J/\psi +W$ associated production within the factorization formalism of nonrelativistic QCD at the $7 TeV$ LHC. We provide the numerical results for the leading-order (LO), NLO QCD corrected differential cross sections of the $J/\psi$ transverse momentum by adopting the event selection criteria requested by the ATLAS experiment. We find that the differential cross section at the LO is significantly enhanced by the NLO...

We investigate the ${\cal O}(\alpha_s)$ corrections to $e^+e^-\to J/\psi(\psi')+\chi_{cJ}$ ($J=0,1,2$) in the NRQCD factorization approach. These next-to-leading order (NLO) corrections are calculated at the level of helicity amplitude. We have made a detailed analysis for both polarized and unpolarized cross sections, and compared our predictions with the measurements at the $B$ factories. We also derive the asymptotic expressions for each of the NLO helicity amplitudes, and confirm the...

In this paper we propose an exactly soluble model in two-dimensional honeycomb lattice, from which two phases are found. One is the usual Chern/topological insulating state and the other is an interesting $Z_2$ fractionalized Chern/topological insulator. While their bulk properties are similar, the edge-states of physical electrons are quite different. The single electron excitation of the former shows a free particle-like behavior while the latter one is gapped, which provides a definite...

We study $\mathbb H$-perfect pseudo MV-algebras, that is, algebras which can be split into a system of ordered slices indexed by the elements of an subgroup $\mathbb H$ of the group of the real numbers. We show when they can be represented as a lexicographic product of $\mathbb H$ with some $\ell$-group. In addition, we show also a categorical equivalence of this category with the category of $\ell$-groups.

In previous papers we have presented a calculation describing electrodisintegration of the deuteron at GeV energies. The model is fully relativistic and incorporates full spin dependence of the final state interactions (FSI), which were obtained from the SAID analysis. It was, however, limited kinematically due to lack of availability of the SAID amplitudes. This work rectifies this problem by implementing a Regge model to describe the FSI. We present an outline of the model and show...

By a change of variables we obtain new $y$-coordinates of elliptic curves. Utilizing these $y$-coordinates as modular functions, together with the elliptic modular function, we generate the modular function fields of level $N\geq3$. Furthermore, by means of the singular values of the $y$-coordinates we construct the ray class fields modulo $N$ over imaginary quadratic fields as well as normal bases of these ray class fields.

We present a first systematic comparison of superluminous Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) at late epochs, including previously unpublished photometric and spectroscopic observations of SN 2007if, SN 2009dc and SNF20080723-012. Photometrically, the objects of our sample show a diverse late-time behaviour, some of them fading quite rapidly after a light-curve break at ~150-200d. The latter is likely the result of flux redistribution into the infrared, possibly caused by dust formation, rather than a...

In this paper, we introduce the notion of a $(a,b)$-rectangle pattern on permutations that not only generalizes the notion of successive elements (bonds) in permutations, but is also related to mesh patterns introduced recently by Br\"and\'en and Claesson. We call the $(k,k)$-rectangle pattern the $k$-box pattern. To provide an enumeration result on the maximum number of occurrences of the 1-box pattern, we establish an enumerative result on pattern-avoiding signed permutations. Further,...

In the (d,3He) reaction on the odd-neutron nuclear target, we can observe the pionic states in the even-neutron nucleus with spin-parity 0+. We expect that this pionic state does not have the additional shifts due to the effects of the residual interaction between neutron-hole and pionic states. The dynamics of the plasma in the inner regions of an accretion disk around accreting millisecond X-ray pulsars is controlled by the magnetic field of the neutron star. The interaction between an accretion disk and a strong magnetic field is not well-understood, particularly at low accretion rates (the so-called ``propeller regime'). This is due in part to the lack of clear observational diagnostics to constrain the physics of the disk-field interaction. Here we associate the strong ~1 Hz...

This result improves the Contact Sphere Theorem in [EKM12], where a 4/9-pinching constant was imposed. Some tightness results on positively curved contact open 3-manifold are also discussed.

The efficiency of the future devices for quantum information processing will be limited mostly by the finite decoherence rates of the individual qubits and quantum gates. Recently, substantial progress was achieved in enhancing the time within which a solid-state qubit demonstrates coherent dynamics. This progress is based mostly on a successful isolation of the qubits from external decoherence sources obtained by clever engineering. Under these conditions, the material-inherent sources of...

The technidilaton (TD) is a composite scalar predicted in walking technicolor (WTC), arising as a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson associated with the spontaneous breaking of the approximate scale invariance. Due to the Nambu-Goldstone boson's nature, the TD can be as light as the LHC boson that has been discovered at around 125 GeV. We discuss the size of the TD mass and the coupling properties relevant to the LHC study. It turns out that the TD couplings to the standard model (SM) particles take...

An universal relation is found between the Kaluza-Klein (KK) mass scale $m_{KK}$ and the Aharonov-Bohm phase $\theta_H$ in the fifth dimension; $m_{KK} \sim 1350\,{\rm GeV}/(\sin \theta_H)^{0.787}$. We confront the most common version of the CP-conserving 2HDM with LHC data, taking into account all previously available experimental data. We also discuss the scenario where the 125 GeV Higgs discovered at the LHC is the lightest neutral scalar of a particular CP-violating 2HDM. In this scenario we focus on what data can already tell us about the amount of mixing between CP-even and CP-odd states.

We present new 21-cm neutral hydrogen (HI) observations of spiral galaxies for the 2MASS Tully Fisher (2MTF) survey. Using the 64-m Parkes radio telescope multibeam system we obtain 152 high signal-to-noise HI spectra from which we extract 148 high-accuracy ( < 5% error) velocity widths and derive reliable rotation velocities. The observed sample consists of 303 southern (\delta < -40\deg) galaxies selected from the MASS Redshift Survey (2MRS) with K_s

The neutrino-nucleon --> lepton pion QE reaction on the A-target is used as a signal event or/and to reconstruct the neutrino energy, using two-body kinematics. Competition of another processes could lead to misidentification of the arriving neutrinos, being important the fake events coming from the CC1-pion background. A precise knowledge of cross sections is a prerequisite in order to make simulations in event generators to substract the fake ones from the QE countings, and in this...
