everything we need to do to put the academic under control and to get the epidemic under control to get the communities attesting capacity and tools they need to manage the crisis and to support the workers that howere going to get hurt. the responsibility is i don't care how he votes in the end but to make the decision to put the house bill on the floor so we can vote on it. and the day that he gets it he needs to sign it. let's give help to the people we serve, not next week or two weeks from now or tomorrow. let's do it today. i note the absence of a quorum. >> mr. president, last week congress provided billions in funding to address the corona virus outbreak. these funds will help support virus research testing and medical care. congress is now looking at other measures thatea may be required including measures to address the economic impact of the virus. the house may consider an economic response pressure

today, but my understanding is that he'll doesn't just reflect an agreement with the white house which will be needed to move any stimulus package. i want to echo the leader's comments from yesterday and say that this is not the time for partisanship, and it's important that we work together on matters related to the corona virus so we can get neede the needed legislation passed in a timely fashion. more americans are testing positive for the virus each day including eight people in my home state of south dakota in its hour responsibility as members of congress to work together to ensure the country has the resources it needs to combat and defeat the disease. there's no doubt things are stressful right now. americans are understandably worried about their own health and the health of their loved ones. but we have a lot of dedicated people working to keep america safe from nurses and doctors and public health officials. everyone is focused on making sure that we do what we need to

limit the spread of the virus. and all of us of course can help by paying attention to the guidance that we are giving whether it's the advice about washing our hands were avoiding large gatherings or the request while. the challenging time, but america has been through challenging times before and it emerged from them stronger. i'm confident that if we put together that is what will happen again. mr. president, i will yield the floor. >> to help families and communities get through the economic effect of the corona virus spread.
