BASIC ELECTRICITY PART I *SUBCOURSE MM0703 Gets an electronics newcomer through resistors, capacitors, inductors (coils), electromagnets and their electromagnetic fields with enough knowledge to move forward to tuned circuits, filters, oscillator feedback and impedance matching techniques. Alternatively, a student or hobbyist can advance to audio, video, industrial control and digital pulse untuned amplifiers.
Mathematically, texts in these subjects range from graphs substituting for equations to partial differential equations. MM0703 uses addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, squaring and square-roots in the manner of high-school algebra. For the most part a student performing calculations of voltage dividers, resonances, time constants and frequency responses in published hobby circuits will retain the skills presented in MM0703.
MM0703 serves as a reasonable foundation. A reader anticipating broader reference needs will find NEETS (Navy Electricity and Electronics Training Series text books) modules 1, 2, 3 and 4 contain that richer range. While NEETS contains more detail it will overwhelm most attempting self teaching. It serves well as reference material.
Of course military training manuals lack the lighter comments and drawing enlivening hobby books. Select what works for you.
