news at 9 o'clock. i'm jonathan mccall. justine has the night off. we start this sunday night with more violence on the streets of oakland in just the last few hours, oakland police tell kron 4 news that a man was shot and killed in the city's latest homicide while simply trying to stop a car from bring broken into opd says the shooting happened around 3.30 this afternoon at lake merritt. investigators say that man who was the victim of a car break-in himself was trying to stop yet another one from happening when he was shot that man later died at the hospital. the shooter fled the scene. the death now the city's 127th homicide of 2021 tonight at $10,000 reward is being offered for information in the case. oakland police, meanwhile, are also searching for answers in the murder of kron. 4 news security guard kevin the shooter was shot while on assignment with one of our reporters on wednesday. he died from his injuries yesterday morning, kron four's amanda hari live for us

tonight in the newsroom after talking with oakland leaders about the impact of his last even those who didn't even know kevin. now responding meant. >> yes and every single person i spoke to said this is gut wrenching. it's just a term i heard over and over again when i was talking to people about kevin issued his death. i only worked with him a few times and knew he was one of the best now some leaders that never enough and the opportunity to meet him say they're mourning his loss. >> just devastating a devastating news. it's so obvious that we lost head and someone very special oakland city council member and mayor oreo candidates saying tao never met. kevin. does she but she says she's feeling his loss. just want to say look like to his family, his friends, the shooter was shot on wednesday while protecting a kron 4 reporter at 14th and webster streets in oakland. the city of oakland is where shooter got his start in law

a call of a driver who they who they say was uncooperative inside of a tow truck at some point that suspect took off on his car in the wrong direction. headed back toward oakland on i 5.80 the suspected turned back around and rammed into the officer's car, then drive to hit another chp car before crashing into a 3rd car that suspect will be taken into custody once he's released from the hospital. the driver who was hit that 3rd car was not hurt. today is expected to be one of the busiest travel days of the year both on the roads and in the skies this week alone has been the busiest set sfo since before the pandemic kron four's. gayle ong spent the day talking talking the travelers at san francisco international. >> it certainay is starting to look like prepandemic levels here at sfo and on the post thanksgiving travel we saw some traffic and goodbyes. >> with the thanksgiving holiday weekend coming to an

monday morning, kron 4 meteorologists rebecca strong here tonight to get you ready to head out the door. >> well, it's going to be a very chilly if you're going to be heading out the door in the morning because we're going to see cold temperatures. but then into the afternoon, warm ones are going to be a nice around the bay area with a whole lot of sunshine right now. clear conditions for the most part seeing in all of our live cameras across the bay area. this is our live shot of us right now. no refund or cloud cover yet in your way. so mostly clear tonight with lows dropping in the 40's and 50's. so make sure bundle up if you're going to be out and about tonight. and also first thing in the morning. but then the once the afternoon hits, we're going to see the sunshine now warming up those temperatures into the low 70's once again across much of the bay area. we're going to see that for the entire week and even into next weekend apcontinues to be dry and those temperatures above average for this time of year as it will be next weekend december as we're wrapping up weekend of november so definitely on a warm know they were ending and

officials say the patients had recently traveled to nigeria. it's the first cases detected in north america today, new cases were also confirmed in the netherlands, denmark and australia in just in just a few hours, the united states will ban travel from 7, 7 african countries because of that threat. drug maker. moderna says it has a plan to tackle the on the kron variant. the company says it has been testing higher doses of the current covid-19 vaccine to determine just how effective it is. company. officials also saying it's working on vaccines to target the new variant moderna's chief medical officer says if needed a completely new vaccine could be available sometime in early next year. pfizer and johnson and johnson. both say that they're currently developing vaccines for that variant. rapid covid-19 home testing kits are not readily available here in the u.s. despite easy access in other countries. some blame

at gunpoint on friday. nelson says she was visiting friends in atlanta for thanksgiving when she got a call from her friend marie cobain's who was watching merlin at the time at one of them come in front of pointed the gun in my face said give me the dog. >> and basically the other one already gone to go grab early. and bain says she was walking rolling when it happened around 06:00pm at valdez and 24th streets in oakland. she says the 2 men then jumped in a car in spinoff going the wrong way down a one-way street towards whole foods very couldn't get anything out of could say anything but also with a gun in your face. you know, what are you supposed to say after hearing what happened. nelson says she jumped on a flight the next morning to head home so she could make fires and work with police. >> french bulldogs have been a popular target for robbers, especially in the bay area because they go for higher prices. nelson says the last few days have been emotional without it's hard. i can't even. >> understand why someone

would want to do this. but. i mean, even coming not running to the door to greet me. >> or hearing him run around in the background. nelson's family set up a reward website for merlin who's 26 pounds with a few unique spots, including a large black spot on his left shoulder. he has a white belly and chest as well. i'm taylor reporting kron 4 news. >> tonight. san francisco police are searching for clues in 3 separate shootings that happened in less than 4 hours. the first shooting happened just after one 30 this morning on for dell street in the bayview neighborhood. detectives say they found a man at the scene with a gunshot wound that is set to be non life threatening. this is video of that scene from the citizen app. meanwhile, the second shooting happened. the morning at her can tailor this is also citizen app video of that scene. a man was also injured in this shooting right now. there's no word on the extent of his injuries. the

3rd shooting happened 2 hours later around 5 this morning on patrol and cesar chavez in the mission district officers found a man at the scene also shot medics rushed him to the hospital where he later died. detective so far have not released his name. police say that all 3 shootings are not connected. so far. there's no word on if any arrests have been made. stay with kron 4 for updates as they become available. a coyote in san francisco rescued from san francisco. bay has been released back into the wild after getting some tlc. this is video from the san francisco fire department showing those workers fishing the coyote of the water yesterday. crews were able to attach a rope around its neck to keep its head above the water. so it could be moved to safety. officials say it likely was trying to run to marina green and then ran right into the water after fishing it out they'd write him off down a little bit of heat so he could be ok. speaking of heat. we're going to see a lot of it in the

offer up. but some of the things that folks need to do to just avoid being scammed out of their money. >> well, if it sounds too good to be true. then it probably is a marketplace i'm an amazon. you have to watch out for a lot of the merchants that are online. you can encounter things such the skimming, which is the criminals getting your credit card information and either selling that on the dark web or using your credit card information in order to make purchases. the other thing that people need to be aware about our fake social media accounts. lot of people on facebook will set up fake accounts in order to sell bogus goods or just to get your credit card information. so if you're going to shop with marketplace on facebook. make sure that you see the item before you make a purchase 4. if you're shopping online, make sure that you verify the merchant before you get out any credit card information so they can still year your credit card information or your data. >> are there ways that folks can check to see exactly. you

know, for looking on the web something that we're not familiar with. are there ways to check to see who is legitimate and who isn't legitimate. >> one of the things that you want to do with web sites is to make sure that it's a secured web site. so if the website starts out with http s that means the s means that it secured web site. so if you want to do any online transactions. you want to make sure it's got the https in order to know that that web site is secured. but don't let that be the only thing too be the indicator of merchant is legitimate. make sure you do your homework. google these companies to find out if you're dealing with 3rd party merchants it. there. legitimate company are just some scammer that set up shop to get your information. >> also the better business bureau typically track some of these companies as well. auburn, i also want to ask you, you always know what's cool what's happening. the latest gadgets. what are some of the things that folks need to be aware of. that's available that they can buy for christmas.

meteorologists rebecca strom in tonight of recent. >> and jonathan, thank you. yes, we're very warm conditions. well above average for this time of year as we wrap up the month of november. clear skies for the most part right now this advice a shot of the golden gate bridge from our sutro tower camera. yes, lots of folks getting back home after the long holiday weekend overnight lows, though, definitely turn on the heaters at home in the cars 40's and 50's that we're going to be expecting 46 and santa rosa napa 51 in downtown san francisco overnight low of 50 in oakland and hayward and 46 degrees very chilly in san jose. but during the afternoon, not chilly at all. high pressure continues to dominate the bay area. we saw it all weekend long. we're going to continue to see it. do your work week through your school week and that's keeping us dry here in the bay area with a lot of sunshine and those 70's returning once again. but my long range forecast. yes, no rain for now and into a pretty much the rest of the week. but there is

a promising system, though. we just have to to the beginning of next week. we have to wait for just a bit. and it looks like monday could be bringing us a good chance of rain showers. definitely get those umbrellas ready just in case. we just have to get through this warm weather first, which is great. not a bad thing at all. and then the possibility of rain the following week. so hopefully the chances will remain high tomorrow afternoon, though. no rain in the forecast, dry and warm 60's and 70's once again around the bay area 68 san francisco 69 in oakland and 73 degrees in san jose. jonathan, back to you. >> rebecca, thank you. tonight sacramento police have arrested a man who they say shot at officers in a south sacramento neighborhood this morning. police say they were responding to calls from worried residents jeannie nguyen has more. >> for the last 6 months home. vo has lived in the south. sacramento neighborhood near 65th and lemon hill even though i know this this yard line. one of the dangerous

area. but they see the first time it's happened. and while this area doesn't have the best reputation. vo says he's never had a problem people as friendly. i see some time talk to them and they are in the friendly. that is good. but all that changed sunday morning when police got a call from worried residents. there are several callers. the reported there was a man that was armed outside and that he was in possession of a firearm when police got their shots were fired at them and they returned fire. nobody was hurt in the man with the gun got away. suspect then fled on foot and we have established an extensive perimeter in this area to search the area for hours. police kept looking by ground and air. they have not released a description or a name with so little to go on. they urge people in the area to stay alert. and it was the helicopter searching from above that got vo nervous about leaving his family at
