we heard pam break the news about the royal baby. prince harry and his wife meghan markle are the proud parents of a baby boy. the 37-year-old duchess of sussex went into labor early with prince harry by her side. the baby weighs seven pounds and three ounces. the couple never revealed the due date and they decided not to find out the baby sucks in advance. this baby boy is the seventh in life with the british throne and the queens eight great- grandchild. prince harry says they are still working on finding a name for the little boy. >> didn't they say they wanted those first days to be private. >> we know the first few days are so important. so let's wait until the present everyone comes rushing over >> when you feel better, call us just to check in

bart nine sent a text to her mom saying she was going to die . the attorneys for one of the defendants, max harris, said she should not be able to testify. it could be too emotional creating a prejudice. david labine spoke with his over the weekend and weighed in on what he thinks will happen. >> what the defendants want to show is that the prejudicial value of this testimony far outweighs the probative value and that is why there focusing on the back that this text does not have anything to do with cause or whether or not these defendants are responsible. i would assume that the judge will allow some of that kind of evidence, but not too much. >> max harris and derick almena are charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter . no

parked cars on portola drive. no one was hurt. police in san jose are investigating a deadly single car crash. a car slammed into a tree near santa teresa boulevard just before 10:00 last night. one man died inside of that car and the other person is expected to survive. police believe the driver was going faster than the speed limit. and right now they are looking for witnesses or surveillance video that could help in the investigation. police in antioch are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash. he crash on east 18th street just before 5:30 last night. that motorcycle broke into several pieces including some pieces found more than 200 yards down the street. we do not know the name of the writer or his hometown but they

believe that motorcycle was speeding. president trump is defending his decision to impose more tariffs on chinese goods. the president tweeted the united states has been losing for many years $600-$800 billion per year entrie. with china we lose $500 billion. sorry, we are not going to be doing that anymore. a team from beijing is planning to travel to the united dates for trade talk. shares in china tumbled after president trump said he would raise tariffs. in addition to raising import taxes to 25%, he threatened to increase tariffs on another $325 billion of chinese tariffs. i hope you're with us when we checked the markets. we showed you a 400+ point drop. here we see it is not that bad.

it has rebounded a little bit and we will keep an eye on marcus ball you throughout the morning's. we will have more in dollars and cents as well. happening today, the sheriff's office will announce a new program that lets people with unwanted guns turn them in to the sheriff's office at any time, no questions asked. unlike a gun buyback program, no money will be offered in exchange for those guns. the goal is to keep their guns out of the hands of people who should not have them and prevent accidental shootings or suicides in homes. police are stepping up their campaign to keep people in san francisco's safer. officers will be watching for drivers who create roadway dangers for those walking or riding a bicycle. they hope to eliminate all

traffic related deaths in san francisco by 2024. a traveling exhibit on the history of one of san francisco muni's oldest lines. the story will show how it really changed the city. it rolled out 100 years ago. a few years later the line connected to the very building and to 20 years it went to the beach and the san francisco zoo. the exhibit will open at the library on portal way. later today, san francisco gets a new fire chief. jenny nicholson is a 25 year veteran of the fire department and has spent years on the front line. she suffered second-degree burns fighting a fire in 2009. her swearing-in will take place at 11:00 this morning and this is after joann hayes white retires after 29 years with the san francisco to fire

department. in oakland man is in jail after he opened fire at a crowded beach. the condition of those hospitalized in san francisco. a fiery plane crash in russia where at least 40 people died. the investigation underway right now. we have traffic on the 280 northbound looking a little bit slower than it did a few moments ago. outside our doors this morning, scattered showers to start the day. it will wind down over the next couple of hours and then we will be dry for the rest of the day.

disaster in russia. investigators this morning said i just had been hit by lightning moments before it burst into flames on that runway in moscow. at least 41 people on that plane were killed and six others were hurt. dozens of horrified passengers were scrambling off of the burning plane and sliding down, some of them with babies in their arms. >> we were approaching the airport and saw sirens. >> modern jets are built to withstand lightning strikes, but russian authorities say it appears likely that a lightning bolt caused that disaster. federal investigators are trying to piece together what causes 737 passenger jet to wind up in a river. the plane was carrying 143 military personnel when it slid into the st. johns river on

friday. officials say they will cover the undamaged flight data recovery and it was shipped to washington. the pilots on the plane made a request to change the direction of landing shortly before landing in jacksonville. >> we do not know what they were thinking or why they made that choice. that will be one of the things that we look to find out. >> the full assessment of the damage will not be known until the aircraft is moved from the river and that cannot be done until the fuel is removed. once it is relocated to a secure location, they can take out the voice recorder in the cockpit. people in the midwest are being warned there could be more flooding this week. the mississippi river crested on friday and it may rise again this week. rain and thunderstorms are in an unusually heavy snow pack which is no melting plus the

talking about a request to remove a dock that was built in 1942. it sits about 600 feet of harbor street. the plan is to take apart that dark and it calls for using barges to remove the material. the dock is owned by the state and it is managed by the city. the oil company needs the city's permission to remove it. that hearing will start tonight at pittsburgh city hall. the potential east-west train route along highway 37 and a study explored linking the existing hamilton station and the state-funded of $500 study and provided a possible blueprint to connect them to the capital corridor. they have to focus on completing the 70 mile line

welcome back to mornings on 2. later today, tiger woods goes to the white house to receive a special honor. he will receive the medal of freedom the nation's highest civilian honor. it comes after he made that incredible comeback winning the masters. it was his 15th major victory and his first since 2008. the horse that was disqualified as a winner of the kentucky derby will not run later this month. maximum-security was disqualified. maximum-security let from the start of saturday's race but on the final turn he interfered with three horses. this is the first time in the

welcome back to morning sun to. a popular bookstore sold it's last book over the weekend. half-price books and concorde closes stores yesterday. the owner say the landlord would not read lou his lease. the bookstore on mount diablo street open and 2001. customers took advantage of a blowout closing sale and said good by. many are angry the store is being forced to close. the store owner's up the open ended different location, but nothing is in place yet. >> we have been here for almost 20 years. there were other businesses willing to pay more than we

night. the motorcycle was broken into several pieces. some pieces were found more than 200 yards down the street. investigators say they believe the cause of the crash was speeding. this morning, law enforcement agencies are expected to release the numbers on their crackdown on impaired drivers over the cinco de mayo weekend. one suspected drunk driver was arrested. the driver crashed into five parked cars on portola drive but no one was hurt. we are expecting an update from san jose police after an officer shot and killed a man. this happen saturday afternoon in an apartment complex. police said they found a stolen car in the carport of the complex. three police cars blocked in that vehicle but the suspect drove toward them. a sergeant was pinned between the stolen car and a parked car
