Avon-by-the-Sea is the twelfth Studio album, that is by the Maravines. It was released as an Audio download on Saturday, May 1st, 2021. On Avon-by-the-Sea, Chris Lee plays the acoustic guitar, the nylon string acoustic guitar, the electric guitar, the bass, the drums, and he sings. Evan Pope plays the electric guitar, the acoustic guitar, the bass, he sings, and he plays the drums. Domingo Flores also plays the electric guitar.
The nine song album draws musical comparison to the indie rock band the Antlers' 2011 album, Burst Apart. In a review for The Jersey Journal, the music critic Jim Testa describes the music on Avon-by-the-Sea as "moody, harmony-laden [and] contemplative or sullen," noting that lyrically, a "closer examination reveals that for the Maravines, the ocean is more metaphor than vacation spot." He summarizes his review by writing to "play your old Beach Boys records to soundtrack that joyous ride to the shore this summer," however, that "once you're there, at dawn or twilight, lost in thought, that's when it's time for the Maravines."
Stephen Carradini, from the music review website Independent Clauses, writes that the song "Avon-by-the-Sea" has a "slinky, cloudy longing and guitars [that] smolder and yearn but don't explode, while the vocals are earnestly sad, unique and beautiful." The online Radio station BlowUpRadio premiered the title song on April 19th, 2021, during the New N. J. Music broadcast. Also, the station played the ninth song, "The Snake and Rhinoceros" on May 3rd, 2021. In a retrospective article on the Music of 2021, Jim Testa, for The Jersey Journal, writes that "Union City's Maravines released "Avon-by-the-Sea," an album that used the Jersey Shore as a metaphor for contemplation and alienation."
Avon-by-the-Sea was published on Bandcamp.com, on May 1st. It was released as Attribution 3.0 Unported, and listeners can pay the amount that they want. It was also published to Youtube.com, for creative commons, on the same day. The album was the uploaded to the Internet Archive, for public domain, on October 2nd, 2021.

And I wonder if this virgin air is safe to hold this savage prayer. Get it started then, I was told you would never love me. I have been sleeping in the Sun's maze, sifting through the soft haze. The morning where we get the shadow, ever drifting further. And, I wonder if this virgin air is safe to hold this savage prayer. Get it started then, I was told I would never love. And we would remark on the condition, and lack of all convictions. We never got into tradition, or held a new position. And, I wonder if this virgin air is safe to hold this savage prayer. Get it started then, I was told I would never love.

Was not capable to blindly leap from these rocks. Close your eyes, and we can fly from sea to sea. Restless heart will only pump when she's ignited a desperate spark can burn, I know now follow me, wrecklessly, wrecklessly, wrecklessly. Wrecklessly, wrecklessly, wrecklessly. We are now flying through the airways. We are now crashing in the sea. And we feel it come on, as we tumble along. We are now burning in the desert. Fire cracker. So much time we spend to change such little things. Yeah, I heard we are bound to flesh and bone. Give this all a chance, and let us melt away now. Close your eyes I swear, I promise we can be what we want to be, want to be, want to be. Endlessly, endlessly, endlessly. We are now flying through the airways. We are now crashing in the sea. And we feel it come on, as we tumble along. We are now burning in the desert. Fire cracker, fire cracker.

When it calls and comes, you walk away. I don't want to leave idle harmony. Call to hold your head up high upon the sea, and the silence has a purpose just like any morn. Hope it catches. See they hide their call? I don't want to go around anymore. And you see it'll make out things, until the weather goes around, you hold your heart out. The air conditioned to refrain the call of joy, if it don't mean a thing.

Nora, ignore the pain. Nor other foolish names that we were given at birth, the plants, the trees, the sky, the Earth. Nora, don't go away. Store everything in places in between your head. And we go out for a swim, in the ocean again, as we hide under the tides. Looking back into the absence of my broken mind, and I can't help but wonder why. Nora, don't feel the pain. Nor other stupid names that we were given at birth, the plants, the trees, the sky, the Earth. Nora, don't go away. Store everything in space in between your head. And we go out for a swim, in the ocean again, as we hide behind the tides. Looking back into the absence of my broken mind, and I can't help but wonder why. No, Nora.

Wherever this goes. Whatever you like. Whatever you say. Whatever you make. Whatever you hold. What is the right role? What is the sound now? A sparrow on the horn.

Slowly the mouth will open, and take in blood for something it held. My own love, love. Nobody can feel, or see me. Everybody just listens to movement. I always come when she goes. Another is a term to spend alone, my own love. Embers mixing with dirt, and mixing with worms, and blow seeds. Embers mixing with fire, mix in the sky, and blow seas. Ember mixed with the dirt, and mixed with the worms, and grow seed.
