This Curriculum Ideas is the second of two produced as a result of a curriculum workshop on 'Computer Education in Years 9/10'. It contains the unit on the 'Programmable Turtle' which should prove to be of considerable interest and use to teachers in developing Computer Education courses. The units of work are in no way prescriptive. The document has been reprinted in 1985 to satisfy the continuing need for such material in schools.
In April 1981, experienced teachers in the field of Computer Education attended a curriculm workshop at Blackheath. At this workshop, groups produced materials which could be used in developing a Computer Awareness course. A previous Curriculm Ideas, "Support Materials for Computer Education", dealt with ; A. History and the Computer. B. Components of a Computer. C. Uses of Computers. D. Implications of a Changing Technology. E.g Computer Programing - BASIC. This issue of Curriculum Ideas consists of notes and exercises on a language called 'Programable Turtle'. It is hoped that 'Programable Turtle' will be of use in the teaching of 'Computer Awareness' by being a simple and an easily operated language.
