Over the years, different authors, all taking the nom de plume Nicholas Carter, have penned stories featuring "America's greatest detective". The scene is set at an upscale road house not far from New York City. Tucked away in a quiet room, five men sit at a poker game, when one is accused of cheating. A scuffle ensues and the man ends up dead. But surely he wasn't hit that hard? Did he have a heart condition? We can be sure Nick will get to the bottom of the affair. - Summary by Lynne Thompson For further information, including links to online text, reader information, RSS feeds, CD cover or other formats (if available), please go to the LibriVox catalog page for this recording.

Great story but . . .
The first reader's character voices were so awful I had to skip the first two chapters. He made one of the characters sound like Mickey Mouse! I enjoy these Nicholas Carter stories but, like listening to a song, the reader (singer) has to have a good voice.
