Funds from a $14.5 million state budget allocation presented to the City by Senator Dave Min in August 2021 will allow the JOST system to be completely built out. The 1.5-mile extension will run from Barranca to I-5, and will link existing bike and pedestrian trails, include a 15-footwide bridge stretching almost 1,200 feet over the Interstate 5, and connect the coastline to the Santa Ana Mountains and Cleveland National Forest.
