Elizabeth Taylor was objectively far too young for the role of turncoat Robert Taylor's military wife, though she made a valiant effort to impersonate an adult. (The part would have been "taylor made" for the Joan Fontaine of *Rebecca* and *Suspicion*.) A gentrified English ambiance prevents the drama from lapsing into crude Red-baiting, but few if any puncmjjhes are pulled regarding Soviet ruthlessness. The suspense is moderately enthralling; the concluding twist deserved more time than it was alloted.
