On Thursday 5 August 2021 from 10am-3:30pm BRT (13:00-16:30 UTC) the Recife Law and Technology Research Institute will convene the 2nd
'Seminar on Cryptography, Politics and Fundamental Rights'. The challenges that the full employment of cryptography face in Brazil and in the world are continuous. Among proposals for filtering communications content, weakening cryptography for access to communications by investigative authorities, and making it mandatory for providers to employ message traceability mechanisms, the risks that the security of connected infrastructures and users' rights face are varied. In order to map these policies, the contexts from which they arise and the challenges they potentially offer, we will bring together panelists from different regions of the world - Asia, Europe and the Americas - as well as researchers and Brazilian police representatives. The event is part of the schedule of #CriptoAgosto2021 and has the support of the Internet Society, Internet Society - Brazil Chapter Brazi,l and Coalizão Direitos na Rede. EN/ES/PT interpretation will be provided.
