This upload contains "Descendants 2 Empojified," a poorly-thought-out but
technically-well-executed monstrosity of marketing that nearly became lost media. The film was aired precisely once on October 13, 2017 at 9pm EST to dismal
reception and never made available
for sale/streaming/spoken of again. The content is derived from a
mostly-dormant torrent with one seeder; it's higher quality than the
other available torrent and looks fairly crisp at 720p resolution. The original encode was x264-encoded .mp4 and I have also uploaded a x265 HEVC .mkv version I generated at about half the size.
Rather than attempt to explain the conceit of the program myself, I will excerpt the hubris of
this ProMax article as follows:
'“Emojis, gifs, memes, and hashtags are an entirely new visual language
that’s popular with the Disney Channel audience, and harnessing this
visual language and adding it to our content is relatable, authentic and
contemporary,” Aricco said. “This is how kids are communicating and we
want to speak directly to them." [...] "We absolutely hope that “emojifying” content continues as part of our
programming strategy and would love to see this technique applied to
other titles,” Arrico said.”
While I do
explicitly bear the Walt Disney corporation extreme ill will for their
chronic abuse of copyright law and mostly-successful attempts to extort every
facet of global culture, these files are hosted here for strictly archival purposes. Neither myself nor the Internet Archive obtain any reward or benefit (fiduciary or otherwise) beyond the content's now-wider availability.
