"I Surrender" not only shows what can be one with MMORPG-based machinima, but also is a fine example of the ways in which this new medium both borrows from and comments upon other media forms. Made in the beta version of World of Warcraft, this video borrows precisely from the conventions of MTV music videos, specifically, the revelation of back-story through flashbacks and other devices tied to the rhythms of a romantic power ballad. Ironically, working with the constrained emotes and gestures of an MMORPG into a constrained media format adds up to a creative tour-de-force. Less is more! --HEL
"Here is the first video I ever made in World Of Warcraft. It is currently being hosted on fileplanet.com! It made the front page! w00t! 1 or 2 weeks after the release of WoW I will be producing the second movie. Hope you all enjoy!" -- from the Crafting Worlds website.
