Matthew Paul Argall's film photos

Casual snapshots taken using film. I realise I am a very average photographer. All of these photos are untouched and unedited, however some were taken with unusual types of film.

Casual snapshots I took on 2 February 2020 in Sassafras, Victoria, Australia. Unfortunately, the focus is poor on some of the photos. The camera used is the Samsung Maxima Zoom 105XL, and the film used is the Kodak Ultramax 400. I was surprised when I found out that Samsung used to make film cameras.

I was bored during "corona-tine", so I took some casual snapshots in my nostalgia themed bedroom. The camera used is the Kodak Stylelite, which was introduced in 1979 and given away in premium schemes. The film used is Lomography Orca, which I believe was introduced around 2011 or so and is a 110 format film. Unfortunately, some of the photos are poorly scanned....

Photos I took in Olinda, Victoria, Australia, which is a few minutes walk from where I live. A face mask was worn of course. I took these photos in a hurry, as I was worried it was gonna rain and I had no umbrella. The first photo on the roll was not taken in Olinda, but was taken in my bedroom to advance the film to the first frame. Casual, non-artistic photos I took in Olinda, Victoria, Australia. The reason for all of the fallen trees heaped in a pile near an excavator is because the area was still recovering from the aftermath of a severe storm several weeks earlier. Photos I took on 30 May 2020 in Kilsyth, Victoria, Australia. The camera used is the Smena Symbol, a 70s-era camera that was popular in the former Soviet Union. The film used is Kodak Pro Image 100.  The woman in one of the photos is my grandmother, Gladys Brownlee (born 1928). The mountain in the background with the TV transmitters on it is Mount Dandenong, which is where I live.

Casual snapshots I took on 25 May 2020 around Toorak Road in Mount Dandenong, Victoria, Australia. I regularly take photos while walking around my neighbourhood. The camera used is the Spartus 35F Model 400, a 35mm film viewfinder camera made in Chicago during the late-40s/early-50s. The film used is Fujicolor 100. I realise the focus is off on some of the photos.

Casual snapshots I took in Mount Dandenong, Victoria, Australia. The camera used is the Kodak Brownie No. 2, which was made from 1901 to the mid-30s, with slight changes in design along the way. The particular one I used was made in the late-20s/early-30s. It takes readily available 120 film. The film used is Kodak Ektar 100.  I admit these photos could have been done a lot better. I will try to take better photos the next time I use the camera.

Casual snapshots I took around my backyard and back veranda (really my parents backyard/veranda...I am unable to live on my own). The camera used is a cheapo plastic 110 film camera called the Halina Pix 110F. The film used is Lomography Tiger 200. Location is Mount Dandenong, Victoria, Australia.  I readily admit some of these photos did not turn out well at all.

A circa 2003 photograph I took as a kid. I believe this features a third generation Honda Civic, but correct me if I'm mistaken on that. Taken somewhere in Victoria, Australia.

Casual snapshots I took around the front yard of my house (really my parents house...I am unable to live on my own) on 20 April 2020. The camera used is the Hanimex 108F, a vintage early 80s camera for 110 film. The film used is Lomography Tiger 200. The close-up photos are relatively sharp for a zero-budget 110, while the distance photos are very blurry. The location is Mount Dandenong, Victoria, Australia.

Casual snapshots I took on 26 January 2020 around the shops in Upper Ferntree Gully, Victoria, Australia. The camera used is the Hanimex 35es, and the film used is Kodak Ultramax 400. Many of these photos were taken in a great rush, often through a car window, so composition is often poor (and my reflection visible in some photos). The camera also has a fault resulting in the top left hand corner being dark. The photos are also rather grainy.

Photos I took on 26 May 2020 around St. Michael's Church in Kalorama, Victoria, Australia. The camera used is the Kodak Pocket Instamatic 10, a very basic no-frills model from the 70s that takes 110 film. The film used is Lomography Metropolis, a modern film introduced in 2019 that gives muted colour.
