This study entails quantitative analyses of interview transcripts, code produced and executed, post-interview evaluations, and metadata, including quantitatively creating features from code outputs and interview transcripts. We open the black box of the interview to better understand the behavior and corresponding responses of interviewers and interviewees throughout their interactions and how these joint behavioral processes may be patterned by gender.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and has become a global pandemic. The signs and symptoms most common are fever, cough, fatigue, anorexia, shortness of breath and myalgia. In the most severe cases, the patients can develop pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), sepsis or septic shock. Medications such as hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine have been used but their use is currently not recommended to...

(This study also includes observational survey data and data on web browsing behavior that will be analyzed as descriptive/exploratory rather than confirmatory.) Respondents will be randomly assigned to read four articles adapted from U.S. and U.K....

Although the Mozart affect has been found in some experiments and not replicated in others, there has not yet been an experiment that demonstrates that similarly complex music in a different genre can affect spatial reasoning ability. There is also a lack of exploration in the idea that musicians may process music differently when related to spatial reasoning performance.

BACKGROUND: A recently published randomized trial found a non-statistically significant reduction in Covid-19 of 17% when hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) was used for postexposure prophylaxis.(1) Based on practical considerations (2) rather than considerations of clinical meaningfulness, the study was powered detect reduction of development of COVID-19 by 50%. Since this was a “pragmatic” clinical trial, where effect sizes are typically smaller than under tightly controlled “explanatory” trial...

We will complete two studies, for which we will recruit a representative sample. In study 1 we examine the extent to which emotion beliefs and emotion regulation influence PTG and symptoms of psychopathology (anxiety, and depression) and physical pathology (sleep, colds, stomach problems, and headaches). In study 2 we move beyond cross-sectional associations, and longitudinally examine the extent to which cause-effect relationships exist between the variables examined in study 1.

This registration describes the protocol of the currently ongoing systematic review and meta-analysis aiming to use individual patient data (IPD) from all available randomized clinical trials (RCTs) that examine the benefits and harms of using remdesivir versus no remdesivir (i.e. usual care/placebo) in the treatment of patients with COVID-19. Specifically, we will investigate whether treatment effects differ across pre-specified patient subgroups.

The current study will seek to add to the existing literature and highlight the uses of the Thurston-Cradock Test of Shame for both research and clinical practice. We will begin by evaluating interrater reliability by estimating agreement between two independent raters. We will then examine convergent validity by estimating the relationships between MMPI-3 scores and TCTS scores. We hypothesize that: (1) interrater reliability for TCTS scoring will be moderate to high; (2) TCTS scores will be...

The overall aim of this study is to determine what features of causal inference questions (in a particular physical scenario) impact the rate of normative responses given. In particular, we attend to three factors: 1) Causal inference type: Given a causal structure with multiple causal factors for one effect, three types of causal inferences can be asked: ● Cause-Effect (CE): forward inferences from a cause to effect ● Effect-Cause (EC): backward inferences from an effect to a cause ●...

This study investigated the effects of state anxiety (induced using inhalation of 7.5% carbon dioxide-enriched air) on gait. Participants completed two inhalations (one of 7.5% CO2 and one of air (placebo)) while walking the length of a laboratory and moving through apertures. Primary outcome measures included walking speed (during flat walking and when moving through an aperture), body rotation through an aperture and degree of deviation from normal when moving through an aperture.

The present project aims to investigate whether 'putting things in perspective', that is being reminded of the (greater) relevance of other goals than the emotion-causing stimulus (1) will alter the experience of emotions and/ or (2) will make people want to engage in emotion regulation because the emotional reaction is perceived as inappropriate. For instance, a student might feel sad when receiving a low mark. We want to investigate whether being reminded of something “more important”...

Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) has recently gained significant interest across the world for its possible role as an antiviral drug against the SARS-CoV2 in the fight against COVID-19. Doping is considered to be one of the biggest challenges in professional sports. It does not only threaten the fairness of the competition but also the health of cheating athletes (Schneider & Hong, 2020). Confessing to the use of illegal substances may lead to severe legal consequences for competitive athletes depending on the country (for an example in Germany, see Bundesministerium der Justiz und für Verbraucherschutz, 2015). Amateur athletes, on the contrary, do not face such severe...
