This study examines the management of response conflicts that arise between two co-actors (interindividual conflicts) after an extensive follower training in the online version of a novel experimental paradigm.
In the novel paradigm, a participant and a co-actor have to move a target in two steps from the bottom center to the top left or right corner of the computer-screen. First, the participant chooses her/his final goal destination (left vs. right top corner); the co-actor then moves the target halfway towards either corner (congruent or incongruent to that chosen by the participant). Finally, the participant has to move the target to the final position. In a first forced-choice block, the participant always has to follow the co-actor's goal (follower training). In the critical second block (free choice), however, the participant is allowed to either follow her/his own or the co-actor’s goal.
