While triffid_hunter has a great SCAD file for herringbone gears ([see here](http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:10707)), I was unable to make a gear to my liking (e.g. smaller small-gear base). I set out to create my own parametric version, and this is the result.
Almost anything is parametric, up to and including the decoration in the middle of the big gear. Compared to triffid_hunter's design, this design adds:
* Ability to change the size of the small gear base. * More decorations (and easier to embed your own) * Ability to change the chamfered edge degree. * Chamfered edges on the inside. * Ability to change the inner shaft-holder size on the big gear (thus being able to tweak it so your hobs end up right at your filament path) * Debug your design easily by rending the gears without teeth (speeds up rendering tremendously)
I've included the SCAD file to render your very own version, and a ton of STL files for different configuration: **shaft**: 4mm or 5mm motor shaft diameter **hobdistance**: how much of the hobbed bolt shaft will be inside the gear (see instructions), 6mm or 9.5mm **distance**: 39.4555mm or 41.7055mm distance between axles. **ratio**: 9:47 or 11:45 gear ratio. **decoration**: solid, spokes, arcs, spirals, arrows, drops, holes, flower, or segments.
