funding from california's unexpected, 75 billion dollars surplus. governor gavin newsome announcing that record setting funding boost for public colleges and universities yesterday. they're set to receive some 49 billion dollars that money will be invested into all you see and cal state campuses community colleges and the california student aid commission in order to provide affordable housing. the governor has also proposed a one time fund of more than 100 million dollars to community colleges in order to eliminate textbook costs. students, though, will no longer have to submit an a c t or even an essay to score in order to get into the university of california school system. this comes after recent settlement on behalf of high school students and nonprofit groups. the lawsuit claimed that standardized test puts minority and low-income students at a disadvantage under the agreement s a t and c t scores will not be considered for admission or scholarship applications. but this course can be submitted voluntarily to be used for for placement courses.
