live in santa rosa, ryan curry. abc 7 news. >> overnight, local creeks went from drought stricken triples to raging rapids. this is known to be a problem spot for flooding. the creek last rose over its banks in 2005 and swarmed nearby businesses. this tree was no match for the storm. this huge oak crashed down into the house and caused major damage and destroyed two of the bedrooms. this happened before noon in woodacre. fortunately, no one was injured by the fallen tree. residents need to find somewhere else to stay. one of the hardest hit spots is san rafael. we saw you in street. what does it look like now? >> we have seen flooding. you can see the car behind us. there is at least 2 feet of water blocking this right here. there are cones of the other side of this vehicle blocking it. i spoke to a neighbor that said this entire street was flooded about two hours ago. they put sandbags right there to try to block the water from entering their home. this is the same scenario we saw in downtown san rafael. cars were

ryan curry is joining us live from fremont. what are you seeing out there now? ryan: these conditions really are not the best right now driving toward the south bay, making your way toward san jose. mostly because right now, you can see traffic is at a standstill, mostly due to a a lot of flooding on the roadways. this has led to several accidents that we have passed by driving down here. the reason why it is so jampacked right now is because they are trying to divert traffic into just a couple lanes because some of these lanes are blocked due to a lot of water on the roadway. as a matter of fact, even as we were driving down, we saw a lot of cars frantically drive over to the nearest exit to avoid this traffic altogether. you can see the rain also still coming down here as traffic is moving just really under five to 10 miles per hour. a very sloppy overnight with all the rain and now, as you can see, starting at 5:00 a.m. on a monday, not really the best conditions right now. like i said, several crashes on the way down as you make your way to south bay to san

ryan curry, abc7 news. kristen: a brush fire burned about four acres in marin county today. sky 7 was over the lucas valley area. a strong response from fire crews appeared to get things under control quickly. no evacuation orders were issued. residents of one neighborhood are back home after a house fire prompted an evacuation order. the fire broke out in a two-story home after 8:00 this morning. the wind blew embers into nearby yards, but firefighters doused the flames before other homes could catch fire. no one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation. larry: we still have red flag warning's in effect until 5:00 for most of the bay area. the warning has been extended in lake county and savona county. when are these winds going to die down? >> they are expected to die down generally in the late and overnight hours. but some areas will take longer than others. we have wind speeds far lower than this time yesterday, but still pretty gusty. napa, where that fire is being dealt with, 21 mile per hour gusts. the higher elevations still pretty gusty as well.
