[cheers and applause] he and his wife have lived in new jersey all their lives. he was born in newark. in 2001, chris christie was appointed by governor bush 43 to be a u.s. attorney for new jersey. he began to take on aggressively the corruption that existed within the state at that time and he began the investigations of the corruption. at one stretch he had 130 convictions with zero acquittals. pretty good record. that's a lot of work to get done here and -- done. i first met chris christie when at that time democrats had the majority in the house of representatives, and john conyers was the chairman of the judiciary committee. they decided that chris christie was a likely candidate for governor of new jersey. they wanted to put an end to his political career by putting him up for a political lynching process,. i watched chris christie sit there and give it back to them over and over again with his wife, mary pat, sitting behind him. i never saw him flinch. he give straight answers

joining us now we have bank reporting on mitt romney and chris christie. julie, let's start with you. tell us about the big battle for the gop establishment donor class. >> they are all over each other's her, and the donors are a little bit wringing their hands about what to do at this point. i think getting into the race early signals to donors that they can sign-on with a candidate, and the donors that i am talking to this week a sickly are on hold until we get a sense of who really is going to be in the race at this point. >> do you think that jeb's trip up to boston may have spurred romney? >> oh yes, it definitely did. if you look on twitter, scott brown was tweeting a photo of him, these should be romney's people. >> julie was just talking about the fact that it was possible that bush actually provoked romney in some way by going onto his home turf and not just talking about his bunglers, what he think about that? >> mitt is a competitive guy and that boston encroachment by jeb bush gave him the lake up to go to romney and say, these people are right

he's to the right of chris christie. and he's probably -- he can position himself if he wants to the right of mitt romney because you're they have quite sure where romney is positioned. but there's a question about him. he has won a lot of campaigns, but you just wonder what's the depth there? does that sort of last? how do these scandals, sort of scandals that have never quite gotten there in terms of campaign finance do those heat up? the connection to the koch brothers, maybe that helps him in republican primaries. i think there are some vulnerabilities there. he's the remainder guy in this race just like tim pawlenty. >> if i could. if the ethics stuff, the question marks around that if that doesn't heat up more i don't think the stuff that's come out so far is going to be hard for him to overcome. i think there's a bigger question about how he's done in terms of jobs in the state of wisconsin, it's ranked somewhere around 35th in terms of job creation. so his record in terms of growth and trying to run on that is no
