abc 7 news reporter chris wynn has more on the story that you'll only see on abc 7 news. >> reporter: it's construction season at san jose state. and crews are trying to get as much done as possible before student ace reporting live for classes this fall. the university's getting ready to welcome the largest freshman class ever with more than 5,000 students expected to enroll. that's 25% more than officials planned for. >> students are tremendously interested in being here, we tried to accommodate all we can, but it is, it is challenging to keep up, we'll do our best, but it is a challenge. >> reporter: but the growing pains are evident as sjsu's popularity in silicon valley continues to rise. more than 1400 students, half of them freshman were put on a waiting list for on campus housing. the university normally has space to accommodate, but that won't be the case this fall. >> it's frustrating as parent to see my daughter going through all the emotions of knowing that she may not be able to have the college experience that she has been looking forward to since she was a young girl. >
