i do think it is extreme for san francisco. my since this bill is in the pro since, it hasn't gone to smithty. it can be amended. i urge amendments to ensure the value of additional height and debs city is re-captured and the existing neighborhood character is preserved. again, while i do respect senator wiener and his work and at the state level this particular bill is troublesome to me. some of the other clauses that i have here i wanted to share with the public is that san francisco has spent years working with communities on planning efforts resulting in affordable housing and infrastructure impacts. the board of supervisors is committed to working with other jurisdictions and tenant advocates to address the crisis by amending fb827. in the further clauses i wanted to urge the state leaders to fund affordable housing stream to address the housing crisis. that funding is a huge challenge. the last clause is board of supervisors will continue to monitor the progress and may provide additional comments as the bill is heard at

i was born and raised in san francisco. my wife patricia and i have lived in the same house in diamond heights for the last 40 years, admiring the sculpture. san francisco recently finished a commemoration of the summer love. who would have thought? apart from being able to pull out funky clothes from your closet to see if they fit, why do san franciscans remember this time? because it is a part of the city's soul. this created an inclusive neighborhood that probably includes more trees than people. the diamond heights safety wall is not marshble or granite or bronze. it is tree. specifically, it is redwood tree, as in 300, 400, 500-year-old residence wood trees. it's impervious to bugs and the like. it stands as tall as it did originally, and i absolutely agree with the board's concern that it be cared for, but it is a -- again, it's redwood, kind of caring for itself, but we also need to be sure that we will care for it. thank you. >> supervisor tang: thank you very much. next speaker, please. >> dear board members. my na

"today in the bay's" pete suratos live to tell us where the suspect was found before he was shot and killed. good morning, pete. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura and marcus. we're here on 22nd and capp street. one of the three suspects in this armed robbery is dead following this officer involved shooting. i want to show you the scene behind me. you can see a good police presence here as this investigation continues, but accord to san francisco police they're saying they were flagged down for them by two victims in an armed robbery in this area near 22 and capp. they gave a car description of the suspects which we believe we're showing you that car that they found a few blocks away. they say the driver and a female suspect complied and were detained, then officers noticed in the trunk of that car it was open and in that trunk was an

pg and he control and e providen service to san francisco and that's been the case since san francisco began providing electricity service in the early 1900s. here is a condensed summary of the efforts the city has undertaken to overcome the difficulties and accessing distribution services. the city attorney and p.u.c. have worked together on this effort. you can see that beginning in 1913, with the breaker act san francisco's been providing electricity service from the early 25 to 45 timeframe, we had access to distribution, only through pg and e by selling our power and pge delivered it to our customers. we overcame that challenge after the u.s. supreme court said that that was not a lawful implementation of the rate rack s it took us a little bit but we did get together with pg and e and came seath as the inner sex agreement to make sure that pg and e provided that distribution service to us. >> in the 90s the law changed and there was a open access era to transmission and distribution services. when our inner connection agreement was scheduled to expire in 2015, we began work to pr

it's expensive in san francisco. these are the realities that you deal with every day and having to hear the challenges that families have across the city. and so, here comes sort of the sad news. as proposition 10, the tobacco tax is now on the decline. it's good, there is less smokers in california. but what that means is we need to start thinking about how all of these supports and systems and services, how do they continue on beyond relying on the tobacco tax? and so our funding is comprised of various departments. around child health really right now, especially the screening in the pediatric settings, it's funded within just tobacco tax. so this is sort of like jenga, right? if we move the blocks away, what will happen? in family support, it's joint funded and the reason hsa has the little dots around it, most of the funding for at least this work and the prevention side, comes from the federal government. i think that's enough that i could say about that. and so for early education, we also fund a portion of t

, and stay right here in san francisco. sf made really provides wraparound resources for manufacturers that sets us apart from other small business support organizations who provide more generalized support. everything we do has really been developed over time by listening and thinking about what manufacturer needs grow. for example, it would be traditional things like helping them find capital, provide assistance loans, help to provide small business owners with education. we have had some great experience doing what you might call pop ups or temporary selling events, and maybe the most recent example was one that we did as part of sf made week in partnership with the city seas partnership with small business, creating a 100 company selling day right here at city hall, in partnership with mayor lee and the board of supervisors, and it was just a wonderful opportunity for many of our smaller manufacturers who may be one or two-person shop, and who don't have the wherewithal to have their own dedicated retail store to show t
