and more of the bay area is reopening, including some of the bay area's most popular tourist attractions. i'm going to have that story coming up. >>> let's start in oakland with that sensitive debate. ropes to play on or nooses? they were found along lake merri merritt, but some say they were just simply swings, not symbols of hate. let's bring in melissa colorado in oakland. melissa? >> reporter: raj, oakland mayor libby shaft says if you leave a noose hanging on a tree, it is a symbol of hate. something that has sparked terror and fear among members of the african-american community. this all started yesterday, when someone spotted a noose tied to a tree branch in oakland. a facebook video of that noose with the #endracism. the mayor condemned the nooses and allowanced the police would launch a hate crime investigation. the mayor said even though there were claims the nooses were used for exercise equipment, that does not excuse them. when officers searched the lake, they found five ropes attached to multiple trees. we spoke to one african-american man who shared this video of people u
