jim? >> so many decisions like that for communities around the country coming up. okay, elizabeth, so jason highlighted the data there. it remains a case where it's largely the unvaccinated who are getting severely sick from this, that's with delta which dominates here. omicron is coming. moderna has new data how the booster shot protects against it. what are you learning? >> so what we've learned from moderna is that their booster that's out there, it does increase antibodies but it's unclear how effective those antibodies will be at protecting you against omicron. so let's take a look at what moderna put out this morning. the booster that's out there now, the one that anybody can go out to a pharmacy or wherever to get it is 50 micrograms. it boosted antibodies in lab tests that they did. however, 100 microgram booster got the antibodies up higher and the effectiveness of either dose against omicron is unclear how effective it is and unclear if it is effective how durable that efficacy w

jim? >> thank, tom. more now on what life is like for everyone trying to get somewhere tonight as more flight crew call in sick, taking more flights off the board. cnn's shimon prokupecz joins us now from new york's la guardia airport. which can be frustrating, even without a pandemic, you know, going on. shimon, what's the latest on your end? >> reporter: yeah, so la guardia, this is late. so as you can see behind me, there is not much activity. there is about half the tlfligh that are taking off from terminal b here that are delayed. couple hours here and there. so we have seen passengers arrive late. we have seen crew arrive just a short time ago as the airlines try to move crews around, try to move people around to get some of these flights that have been delayed or cancelled back up in the air so they can get passengers home. across the u.s., 1,300 flights were cancelled and already tomorrow, we're -- we're seeing over 200 u.s. flights being cancelled according to flight aware. so, th

jim: i think it already does. i think most people are arguing it incorrectly by saying that inflation will begin the next month or two. the question is how long is it going to take for inflation to get back under 2.5%. if you look at the oer, at least a year, if not two years, is where you're going to go before you actually see it come down a lot. i think more and more, the bond market is going to get more uncomfortable and inpatient with this. the other thing to keep in mind, i know a lot of people focus on the stock market while stocks are at all-time highs, and that is kind of the arbiter of every conversation, so it is not a problem. the last market to respond to all major turns has been the stock market. in 2001, the stock market was the last to move. in 2007, it was the last to move. in spring of 2020, the bond market was on fire, and the stock market did not pay attention to it, and then eventually, it did. if you are looking for the stock market to be the leading indicator of when the inflation problem is

so shannon, cramer likes the set up jim is more cautious, our jim, farmer jim what about you >> i would have to say that i'm a little bit more on the farmer jim side in this argument. i'm rather concerned about the first quarter. i do think that there is going to be just from a rotation perspective. i believe that from an index level perspective we are going to see a rotation away from some of the growth names into some of the more cyclical names and just from a construction perspective, that is going to be challenging. i think that in order to take advantage of that you need to be looking outside of the united states in an area where there is more cyclical exposure in the indexes. i think you need to take these inflexion points and to the point about josh's trade earlier, be ready and willing to be able to step in during these inflexion point, and i think that we would be a bit naive to expect the same return this year or next year that we received this year, but i do think that equities in the end are going to produce a positive return in 2022, and so again, i think we'll see several

jim? >> let's go to south africa now and larry mado because that's where omicron was first detected in long numbers. what's amazing, larry, when you hear from doctors and public health officials there is how quickly this seems to have peaked there and cases and new infections are already coming down. what are you finding? >> that's correct, jim. i spent most of this month reporting in south africa at the height of this crisis and now for the first time i'm seeing a lot of south african scientists, epidemiologists, virologists now confident enough to say they think south africa has passed the peak of the omicron wave and they think the numbers are reducing. that's largely because the outbreak was in the city of johann johannesburg and they're confident enough to say this is past the peak. they also think this is the same in several other south african provinces. you had an epidemiologist on yesterday who told you one of the reasons is they think because it spread so fast in the community, a
