Vulpiano Records

Marilyn Roxie

Vulpiano Records was launched in November 2009 by synth musician Marilyn Roxie, initially as a place to house great unsigned and independent artists they had come in contact with through networking in the music blogosphere. The concept behind Vulpiano is simple: to offer quality free music. Genres we specialize in are ambient, electronic, and acoustic. All artists are linked by their spirit of independence and experimentation. We hope you enjoy and share the music.

A Netlabel Day 2016 Special Release A virtual six disc, 25 track masterpiece from Natural Snow Buildings, following up from their previous Vulpiano Records installments  The Night Country  and 2010 Vulpiano exclusive  The Centauri Agent . Following his eclectic opus 'A Space For Your Dreams' (released earlier this year on Vulpiano), Richey Hackett continues on his parallel path as an electronic composer with 'The Nightmarist'. Richey takes ideas and delves into them, skillfully weaving atmospheres throughout his kaleidoscopic chords: bitcrushed echoes, fizzing electrical signals, distorted percussion, and ambiguous vocal samples. Themes pervade: of digital consciousness as a spirit that haunts, disturbs, and blesses our synaptic...

King Elizabeth -  This is Not My Church  (VULP-0169) Following from a surprise return to Vulpiano Records after a 7 year departure with  The Awakening  earlier in 2020, King Elizabeth is back again in short order with  This is Not My Church , traversing a variety of moods and styles through incredible song craft and energy. Following on from his  Young Bloods / Beasts EP   earlier this month, King Elizabeth is back again with his third LP of the year:  A State of Mind . King Elizabeth continues his astonishingly eclectic journey into the nexus of synth music and alternative rock, now with a decidedly neo-psychedelic bent often rooted in a legacy of alternative dance fusions: hazy dirges, ambient techno workouts, hypnotic loops, even transatlantic electro-industrial sounds. Part of the album's charm is how often...

Lhas Fawn is a new artist to Vulpiano, bringing an intoxicatingly vast palette of tone and noise to a musical dialect recurring throughout the label's history. There is a sophisticated progression to these drones, pulling in synths and rock instrumentation, with each track trailblazing an utterly distinct character. When listening, one feels the deep reflectiveness of living in a depopulated area on a cacophonous globe. Whether with hints of Fawn's home range of Finland or the neo-noir...

Last seen on Vulpiano way back in 2013 with the eclectic bedroom pop-rooted opus 'Bubbles', guinpens / Danila Kozyrev returns with this altogether more warped and hypnagogic offering that reflects a tumultuous decade of vaporwave eating itself and distorted cultural feedback.  Worn cassette textures and dreamy atmospheres overwhelm hazy vocals, but guinpens once again runs the gamut and there's great care in the compositions: anesthetized tracks drowning in filtered samples, submerged...

Six-piece UK band Fire Island Pines' debut release Bratislava EP (VULP-0027) comes from Anton Rothschild (vocals and guitar; he previously released one of his solo albums, The Year of the Kitten, on Vulpiano Records in 2010), and "a band of Cornish indie wanderers", Andy (drums), Ben (trumpet, flugel horn, percussion), Seamus (bass, glockenspiel), Simon (guitar), and Tom (guitar, vocals). The EP contains five tracks which each serve to signal the talent the band has for weaving...

VULP-0013 is Natural Snow Buildings' first release of 2010, the free-for-download double LP The Centauri Agent! On part one, the 41 minute "Our man from Centauri" sets the stage, a cosmic, sprawling opener with themes that continue on into "The accidental remote viewer", before fizzling out into static. Part two is comprised of nine beautiful and intense tracks (particular stand-outs including "The Psychic Circle/Uchronia", "The storm of resurrection",...

Netlabel Day 2020 With his mastery of various Indian stringed instruments, Falbo leads us from the lowlands to the ebbing tide of the Himalayas and beyond, in a trance heightened by electronic effects and the ritualistic sounds of stomping feet. www.facebook.com/Enrico-Falbo-109159652446319/ soundcloud.com/enrico-falbo Cover art by Marilyn Roxie using public domain assets from Unsplash

A delicately lo-fi offering beaming in from the banlieues of Paris. This sequence of free-improvisational drones and dark chamber pieces seem to be channeling haunted memories of the fin de siècle via a dusty apartment mirror: wintry, intimate, and melancholic. Words from the artist: "This album is born to try to reconcile myself with recording acoustic sounds. After releasing 150+ albums and most of the last ones only with MIDI, « Un jour je saurai » is an attempt to like it again, to...

From the forthcoming 2017 release  Colours  comes the single track, "Greenish Blue" by Golden Grey. Providing a sample of what to expect in the soon-to-be future, along with the never before released b-side, "Underpass". Golden Grey has been compared to artists such as C148 and  Ratatat,  while maintaining a sound unique all on its own. It's ambient electronic music that builds towards epic finales, leaving the listener wanting more.  Follow-up  to  Awaken the Wolf .

Golden Grey - Awaken the Wolf (VULP-0077) I am pleased to present this exciting new instrumental electronic release on Vulpiano,  Awaken the Wolf  by Golden Grey. Falling at times somewhere between C418's Minecraft soundtrack and Ratatat’s  LP3,  and at others somewhere off in outer space, the release is introspective, calming, and a little mysterious. Bio and Background Information: Golden Grey is an electronic journey through soft bells and glitchy rhythms conveying an outcome of...

Part of the Lately Kind of Yeah archive series. Challenger concludes the LKOY series and provides a kind of counterpoint to the previous release Rampart, with a rougher edge and submersion in guitar and glitch but no less immaculate in vision and execution. “Gate” is my favorite track here, dark and insistent - “Time governs us all.” Words from the artist: "Closure is primarily what I think of with this record. 'Lifeson' was the first song written at the end of 2015, acting as the...

Previously appearing on Vulpiano Records with a compilation spanning his catalog 2007-2010, British independent artist Richey Hackett has just released the new single for his forthcoming album Void Songs (coming September 27th), VULP-0016. Taking an electronica direction, quite a hop from his usual pop-rock style, Softly, Slowly is both catchy and unnerving, Hackettâs vocals taking on a haunting quality amidst mesmerizing, hypnotic loops of drums and eerie melodies - one of his best works yet...

Following single release Homecoming on Vulpiano Records, King Elizabeth's full length album Obsessive Desires (VULP-0032) is out now. A solo artist playing all instruments and performing all vocals, King Elizabeth's adeptness at establishing an atmosphere of vintage post-punk and synth-rock coolness, interpreted through a unique, modern lens. Stand-out tracks like Obsession, Carnival, Homecoming, Hurricanes, and Elusive You profoundly illustrate the variety of moods found on this LP, from...

Richey returns with a single, "Sleepswitch", ahead of his upcoming solo album, along with exclusive b-side "Stepping Out Of The Window". Evoking the experience of insomnia, a panoramic synth refrain recalls someone pitching through a seastorm as a post-punk rhythm forces the ship onwards. A droning vortex of a solo organ progression serves as the coda.

Netlabel Day 2020 Exquisitely minimal landscapes to chill out and dream within. About Walt Thisney: The music of WHΛLT THISИEY is a solitary soundtrack to nowhere, a non-tourist map into the unknown; music and images to create new, fully immersive environments, an intriguing aural pilgrimage with no destination in time and space, nuances and labyrinths. WHΛLT THISИEY selects and mixes music for the mind and body in the same quantities that emerges from encounters between the past and the...

The music that i made for "Poder Contra Verdad" (power vs truth) documentary, directed by José Ramón Rebollada.  The documentary tells the story of the Royal Cotton Factory , a neo-classical building , avant-garde at the time, which was built in Ávila, Spain by order of Charles III . It was one of the earliest attempts to create an industrial fabric in Spain and was a source of wealth in the city over three centuries. The film focuses primarily on the last years of the building...
