Augmented Landscapes is a collaborative work melding acoustic and electronic sound elements with field recordings.  The acoustic element is provided by double bass and prepared double bass, played along a continuum of conventional and extended techniques. The electronic element, which consists in the granular synthesis of acoustic double bass performances, broadens the instrument’s sound palette to encompass varied and unconventional colorations.  When these elements are matched to the...

RUiNU - Eelmusic RUiNU, from Prague, Czech Republic, is one of the creepiest bands in the world, and Eelmusic, slithering through the wet intestines of musical consciousness, infects, even stains the spaces it is played in with its sense of dread. This music is an empty void into which tradition and emotion are pulled and crushed beyond recognition. This is not classical music, and it is certainly not rock. This is pure cannibalistic sound that eats these tropes and then secretes them as...

The only "studio" recording by 2nd period of New Carrollton where everything was not just a live recording session. Heavily under the influence of Nurse With Wound at the time, NC assembled this strange album that was released as a 90 minute cassette tape by Watergate Tapes in 1986. It was later reissued as a 60 minute cdr by Staalplaat's Bake Records imprint. Editing the original tape to 60 minutes was easy to do, since the original release included intentional filler material, to...

Music labels are bombarded by demos, more than they possibly can ever listen to. Sometimes a few demos rise above the onslaught and demonstrate originality and hold your attention. But a small label can't release everything on a CD. So what does one do with the good music that one gets and can't afford to release? Tube Alloys is a project by Zan Hoffman (zh27.org) and Jeff Surak that combines, smelts, and delivers a new work derived from the best parts of some very good demos. Original material...

Cezary Gapik (also know as CEZAR) was born in Czestochowa, Poland in 1963. He started his musical activity in 1980 as an animator of punk rock bands. Soon enough he discovered new sounds which were brought by the punk rock rebellion. Cabaret Voltaire, Public Image Ltd. or other ânew waveâ bands had an enormous influence on the perception of music by Cezar. Plunging into the fundaments of musical avant-garde (Karlheinz Stockhausen, Morton Feldman, Luc Ferrari, La Monte Young), the appearance...

One of the most popular albums by V. covers a wide terrritory of sounds and styles from ambient glitch, free improv noise, and ambient field recordings. Using a wide array of instruments from hurdy gurdy, drums, samplers, tape, and found objects, v. creates a potent mix. This release was originally made for the Black Orchid label as cassette release. However 2 CDR editions were released by Zeromoon, the first 20 in a deluxe canvas and wooden cover, the second 100 copies in the standard Zeromoon...

BLUE SAUSAGE INFANT is the work of Chester Hawkins of Washington DC. The sound of BSI lives somewhere in the space between noise and psychedelia, using a mixture of electronics, toys, and conventional instruments. The result stumbles between delicate ambience, krautrock-flavored trance music, and harsh brutalism. BSI has performed and recorded since 1988, including collaborations with Haunted Toilet, Lida Husik, New Carrollton, Delta of Venus, Changes to Blind, and Stolen Government Binder...

RDK’s Undisturbed e.p. blends traditionally inspired spacemusic and seventies synth textures with lightly sprinkled circuit bent sounds. Three long form excursions are separated by three shorter ones. From the floating ambient of Undisturbed to the “Klaus Schultz dry-humping Wendy Carlos” vibe of the closing track Ying Ling, RDK cover a lot of ground in 26 minutes. Fyrall del Rey features the Ciat-Lonbarde Fyrall instrument playing lead over David Rickert and Davis White’s slowly...

Portable Noise Kremator is the new project from 1/2 of Mangenerated, Belgium's premier decayed music unit. PNK does not disappoint and the project's name accurately describes the 5 tracks on this long ep. Crunchy, saturated, just beautiful sounds culled from a bass and rotten record player. Part of the CONSUME BUY 2006 series of limited run cdrs that were available only during 2006, then promptly discontinued.

ALPHORN IN THE ALPS, WITH WATER AND METAL 5 solos from a weekend in September 1994 at Arte Sella, an outdoor art festival in Borgo Valsugana, Italy----towards the end of a near 20yearlong period of a daily personal spiritual practice with music; though using a variety of media they fit into the general series of improvisations i called Withinstascys----of which the constant is a willed absence of prethought ideas, keeping the body-mind in a moment-to-moment awareness of present ârightnessâ....

Acid Police Noise Ensemble is a collective of composers, artists, and performers based in The Hague, Netherlands. Their activities come from a mix of composition, performance art and improvisation, and involve an exploration of "noise" with all of the vague, multi-faceted beauty that it implies. They have been active since 2010 and perform their increasingly theatrical and ambitious projects throughout the Netherlands. These have included their hour-long, "One-Act Aktionist...
