I'm a little late to this but I just wanted to add my voice to those who absolutely loathe the new design. The two things I relied on most -- browsing by keyword and thumbnails representing the content of a video so I didn't have to waste time viewing -- are either gone or limited in the extreme. Whoever did this took a site that was dense with content but easily understood and navigated and turned it into a site that is dense with design, making the content far less accessible.

What on earth were you people thinking?

"browsing by keyword and thumbnails representing the content of a video so I didn't have to waste time viewing -- are either gone or limited in the extreme"

for keyword browsing -- how so?

for thumbnails browsing, once the video is playing, hovering over the timeline will show thumbnails at the locations in the video they are from in the timeline. I realize it doesn't help 100% with your goal to not having to waste time viewing, and requires minimally starting/stopping the video and mousing, but at least that's where the thumbs went (in case you hadn't seen that yet).

I have found the new design to be a great improvement as I can navigate with ease.

They aren't.

The only thing that the new site design has is uploader recognition.

Of the many incomprehensible things about this BETA horror is that the functions are not gone, just that someone has disabled the users access.
For instance to view the thumbs on an item just put this text in the browser and replace 'name of the object' with the identifier.
https://archive.org/movies/thumbnails.php?identifier=name of object

You can even just paste the text in the browser for an instant view.

For instance;
https://archive.org/details/Toteminspiration
becomes
https://archive.org/movies/thumbnails.php?identifier=Toteminspiration

and there are the thumbnails!

Or you could select the video, wait for it to load and settle in. Then just click randomly across the viewer bar and in less then a minute you would see the same individual icons displayed several times.
