we have addressed the "why change" in the forums and the blog,
eg:

https://archive.org/post/1034507/why-the-beta-version

there's a lot of design and planning coming, but we had to remove the 10+ year old underpinnings to a more modern setup.

Tracey,

Anyone who designs websites today knows that this (your lengthy tome trying to justify change for its own sake) is pure BS. You could have done almost all of these changes under the hood without causing any disruption. Answer one question ... why not just leave access to the classic site ... some of us will maintain it at no cost to the Archive and you people can keep playing in never-never-land. Are egos that fragile that you and those in charge refuse to allow the existence of a well-known and easily used site, alongside that eye-candy you call the beta version.

Please convince us with data. The blog at the link below states that "Currently about 85% of archive.org users are in the new version."
I would like to see the number of those who exited and said they liked it.

Thank-you for the link. I missed that reply in March.

I am sorry tracey, and I mean no disrespect to you, the team or IA (I love IA), but the Beta does not currently possess the simple functionality that I love about the classic interface.

And if there is the moto for another pov/interface then maybe let a thousand flowers bloom and may the best interface win? I don't think anyone would lose in that scenario.
