I have always been fond of this Playin>Uncle John's. Not epic by any stretch of the imagination, but the subtle, if somewhat repetitive, jamming in UJ's has always put a smile on my face.

Maybe one of the drunk frat-boys was our old friend Tito ;)

(for some reason I have always pictured him as such)

Ahhh, Tito.

Say what you want about how much of a tool he was, he was responsible for some of the most heated exchanges here. One of the most accomplished Trolls I've ever come across. You almost have to respect his ability to piss off just about anyone and everyone.

Hands down tito had the best review of a show on this site When reviewing a cal expo gig he said something like this " you used to gain access to the water park with a paid admission to a concert. That stopped when the dead came to town. I asked why and they said - acid and water slides do not mix"

Damn, I have too much spare time:

Review from 08/17/1991 Cal Expo

Reviewer: Tito&Smokey - favoritefavoritefavorite - March 17, 2005
Subject: great pre-drums
Pre-drums was sick.it was raining in Sac(usually very dry)and the Dead acknowledged the rain by opening the second set with Cold, rain, snow>box of Rain>LL Rain>(your rain falls like)Crazy fingers. When you got a ticket to Cal-Expo the water slide on the property was included in the admission.Big Fun.They stopped doing it after this year because,as a call Expo employee told me,"LSD and water slides can get dangerous"

I was there. Most interesting second half of a first set I ever saw (I think).

Definitely worth a listen if you're unfamiliar with it.

"It was like i ordered a pizza and they fucked up and brought 3 of them, and the delivery guy was actually a chick with big knobs and she wasnt wearing a shirt."

And they gave Dylan the prize for Literature... those Nobel horn scrapers don't know what's right.

"Plus i had some local chick "scrape my horn"(if you know what i mean) back at the hotel"

Speaking of T's, though I'll concede your pt for the overall staying power of Tito, nothing can match Telephone Toughguy for going from zero to 60 in about 3 posts...I will never forget that first month of my posting hereabouts, seeing TT and dire escalate to a suggestion of a "real" knockdown, drag out fist fight, and back again, closing it out w "OK, we can be friends now" kind of exchange...it was a real eye opener for a newbie at the time.

Of course, maybe they were one in the same? Nah, Noise Collector, who went on to be a regular contributor, vouched for Telephone (although WTF, I always thought THEY might be the same poster...).

That's another aspect: remember when it was obvious that some folks used "two handles" (ahem) when posting? Or when "number of views" mattered (so to speak; you know, "I got more views than you"...hmm, sounds weird now, eh?).

TT was certainly an accomplished ass-clown, but I found his contributions offensive in a more low-brow, pedestrian sense. If I recall correctly, Tito took a bit more pride in the content and complexity of his antagonistic bullshit. I guess living in your parents' basement screaming for meatloaf (see below) gives you time to hone your art.
