Here is the link to the edit page for one item in question. There are many in my uploads library with this same issue, where the derive defaults to a page other than page 1 of the uploaded PDF.

I'm sorry, I didn't read the instructions correctly for downloading the file. After doing so, and waiting for the next derive, the thumbnail view of the text still does not reveal the correct page. I checked the uploaded xml file and it appears correct. So, at this point, looking for more insight. Thanks.

Clearing cache worked. Thanks for that suggestion. I should have thought of that. Now I'll proceed with correcting the other texts.
One suggestion - it would be nice to have some sort of check box during the initial upload process of a text asking if a default thumbnail should be generated from the first page, or let the algorithm choose.
