**Slight update, new versions added (see below)** This is a handy set of wire loom spacers for 8mm ignition wires. They will also work well for 7.5mm and a bit loosely but OK for 7mm. You can of course scale them differently in your slicer software to get whatever exact fit you need including larger wires such as 8.5mm and others. As opposed to parts boutique versions which tend to be larger and/or expensive, these are so quick to print and so inexpensive to make that you can afford to make a...

I have had a couple of plastic gas cans over the years whose fill spout nuts had cracked. Sometimes you can find replacements, sometimes not. Other times you have to buy the entire nozzle assembly, which is often expensive and may not be the same style as the original. And yet other times the can has been scrapped. I have a favorite five gallon gas can whose clamp nut cracked as you can see in the photos. It is a Blitz brand, who very sadly are no longer in business, and I have two others by...

Recently I made new sides for a napkin holder that we have had for a long time. The original sides were made from painted steel and were curved inward which limited the amount of napkins we could put into it (see photo). Although very decorative, the pattern that had been stamped through the metal (pine trees) would snag napkins when loading them and you could even poke your finger tips on the tree tops. In the end the decision to replace them was because the metal was beginning to rust and...

My dad worked for Skelly Oil corporate in the 1950's. He worked with Bill Skelly and the other two owners directly. Skelly Oil was absorbed into Getty Oil in 1974 and ceased to exist. Recently I was looking for a Skelly Oil sign to print as a refrigerator magnet. Nothing was available, even as line art, but I was able to locate a photo of a Skelly sign. After some cleanup I was able to create three versions of it for conversion to .stl and .gcode formats. Once painted and clear-coated for...

Do you own, or just like the 1978-1982 Honda CBX series? I wanted a couple of magnetic logo placards to put on my tool box but couldn't find anything available. So I designed this in both positive and negative relief versions, each of which has a particular purpose. It was cosmetically modeled after a key chain fob I have. If you do print them and wish to paint them like I did, I suggest the following- If you print it in normal (100%) scale, it will be better to print it in positive (raised)...

We have hummingbirds around almost all year so we always keep at least one feeder filled for them. The one we have now (from WalMart) did not come with a perch so they had to hover in the air while feeding. We have had feeders in the past that had perches and so we know that they will stay far longer at those because they can rest. The top of the base on this feeder removes for cleaning so it was easy to design a perch that fits between the top and the base cup. This does not cause any leaks or...

**--NEW-- ** Per feedback on the gen6 Camaro forum, I have created versions of an intake tube plug that will fit V8-engined cars. Presented here are versions with and without the Chevrolet bowtie on their faces. The version that has an o-ring groove is designed for a standard "116" size o-ring (15/16" OD, 3/4" ID, 3/32" cross section). All versions should be RTV'd in place to make a good air seal. These were tested and confirmed to fit by the kind courtesy of Sean B....

This is my version of a commercially available garage door opener cushion and expansion joint. The problem that prompted this was that in summertime our wooden garage doors would shrink slightly so that the door openers, if not adjusted, would not fully close them. So insects and debris would have a free path into the garage despite the bottom edge rubber "seal". And then in the wintertime the doors would expand slightly (it rains mainly in the winter here) and so they would slam...

I have converted my FT-5 printer to and from Bowden filament feed on a couple of occasions while settling into the (maybe) final configuration. In the process I was faced with having to do something about mounting the hot end onto the carriage when the extruder motor was removed. Rather than modify the existing carriage plates too much I decided to print replacements for components that were moved or eliminated. In this manner I could experiment with Bowden feed without doing anything...

If you have a Dyson DC-25 or a similar vacuum cleaner you will have a small wheel that is part of the selector mechanism (see photos). It changes the vacuum flow between the hand wand and the floor pickup. There is a small piece that the pivot bushing of this wheel fastens into. In early units it was made of plastic and can break for no apparent reason. Clearly the original plastic part was inadequate because the replacement part (DY-91410901) is made of metal and seems to be out of stock a...

I looked around for a permanent solution to neatly remove the sound tube my 2017 V6 Camaro and was not really happy with anything I found commercially. **Notes-** The intake plugs on a V8 are a different size than on a V6. The V6 intake tube opening is 30mm in diameter. So the intake caps shown here will not work for a V8. However the firewall plug will work on either one. I recently posted an alternate version of this set which is a bit simpler to print and install. It also includes intake...

I don't expect this to be useful to a huge number of people, but if it is useful to even one person it is worthwhile sharing. As anyone who has a 1.4L Chevrolet Cruze (or similar) and who has tried to remove the ignition coil connector to do plug service knows, the orange lock tab will break if you even look at it the wrong way. I searched far and wide for a replacement part and could not find one. So I measured the original and duplicated it as best I could. Once printed in ABS and cleaned up...

I have been running an E3DV6 style hot end for a very long time and have had issues with the fan ducts for the 30mm square cooling fan, as have had many others. I have had several ducts fracture like the one shown in the photos, and have split out the corner holes on a couple as well. They seemed to be a bit weak to me and I suspect that the plastic is hardening with age and repeated heating. At the same time I also had problems with the fans themselves and decided that they needed to be tilted...

I have an FT-5 printer which has had flat plate diagonal braces several places on it for a very long time. However, recently I noticed some frame flexure in the front-rear direction during high accelerations. Because flat plate diagonals would have been both expensive and heavy, I chose to fabricate them from common 1/2" EMT tubing (conduit). Specifically one from Home depot, SKU 091111020018 which has an outside diameter of 0.706" and a nominal inside diameter of 0.62"...

Have you had the overly thin plastic handles on hose-end garden sprayers disintegrate? Does yours look like the photos? And then an otherwise perfectly good sprayer becomes trash? If the body of the sprayer is also plastic then it is probably not worth fixing and may indeed be headed for a landfill near you. But we usually buy metal-bodied ones which should in theory last much longer. They are repairable if you can find or make the parts. We were tired of throwing out otherwise good sprayers...

My FolgerTech FT5 has had diagonal frame bracing for a long time, but there was not enough rigidity in the front-rear direction. So I designed mounting brackets to fit into the 2020 rails that use common 1/2" EMT tubing as the primary bracing element. For example, UPC 091111020018 which is easily available from places such as Home Depot, Lowes and others. A 24" length of conduit per brace will position the ends near the corners of the side openings as shown in the photos. Be sure to...

I had to service the battery on our garden tractor in preparation for winter recently. It had a typical molded cover over it that made cleaning of the terminals and wire ends difficult. Its flap cover latches had become a bit loose a long time ago, so often the flaps would become unhooked anyway. Worse, the molded cover cavities tended to accumulate debris and the typical crud that appears on the battery terminals even if you grease them. The battery in our tractor is safely hidden beneath the...

These fit typical 20x20 t-slot-rails such as are used on 3D printers and other applications. The cable clips are used to contain cables and wires inside the t-slots. I have also re-mixed this in a version for more generic usage at- https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4050715 The clamp set fits standard USB cable ends having a 17mmx9.5mm profile snugly. Note that the interior height of the cover is actually only 8.5mm so it will not clamp completely against the tab (small gap). This was...

We were installing a stereo in an older truck and ran into an issue where the radio was slightly deeper than the available space. Have you had the threads on the molded plastic bezels of your A/C gauge set crack? You can find replacements for most gauges, but not all, particularly if they are older. And you may have a problem matching up what is available to your particular set. But the biggest problem is that the new ones will just break again. On my trusty gauge set I had them taped in place for a long time and finally decided to do something about it. I trimmed off the cracked edges leaving just the windows. Then I...

Recently she wanted to put one into a typical 8" square display case she had on hand. Unfortunately it was about 1/2" too short (12.5" side panel height). She could have just purchased a taller case, but they are $16-$20 each and not all that easy to find in the taller heights, these being the most common (12" interior height). So I...

**Updated 05DEC2019** There are many versions of record clamp weights, this is merely my take on them. All are trying to achieve basically the same thing- to keep the record flat and to help grip the turntable surface. Additionally, they may add some improved stability and damping to the rotating platter which in turn may have acoustic benefits. Commercial non-adjustable versions can range from the $20's to rather absurd, depending upon how fancy they are. And commercial adjustable versions are...

This project requires soldering so it may not be quite as simple to build as it may at first appear. However if you do choose to build one it can be visually rewarding and will last for many, many years. Because of the nature of neon bulbs, and assuming that the capacitors are chosen carefully, the battery pack should last for basically its shelf life which could literally be measured in decades. Hence the "heirloom" in the project name (and it sort of looks old-fashioned anyway). If...

Have you ever stuffed paper napkins, toothpicks and other things between panels or trim in cars to try to stop rattles, squeaks and other noises? Yes, I admit it, I have done that until I could get around to padding or tightening the offending item properly (where it is even possible). Recently I had a persistent dashboard rattle that was caused by a tiny gap between a cover panel and the instrument cluster which there is no way to tighten. So I designed a family of these shim wedges and used...

I have had IKEA "Dioder" lighting strips on my printer for a couple of years using some earlier brackets I designed. However they were a bit weak at the light strip attachment points and did not hold the light strips out quite far enough to reduce shadows from some of the X/Y carriage parts. So when one broke recently I decided to design new ones that are both more robust and which space the light strips outward toward the print area. These should fit on any printer using 2020 t-slot...

Does the interior of your garage door opener resemble the first photo? These garage door opener gears often strip at the most inconvenient times when you can't go out and buy a replacement (weekends, holidays, etc.). The portion that fits up into the bottle neck is intentionally not a tight fit and the legs are wide enough that it shouldn't tip over under normal circumstances. If you prefer the fit to be tighter in the bottle neck you can simply scale up the print in your slicer and it will have an added benefit of making the...

The pieces will bond together easily using ABS cement or ABS juice assuming that you make it from ABS. You can also smooth things out quite a lot using acetone vapor polishing if made from ABS.
