This is not a difficult model to assemble, though a little fiddly with some small parts. I have tried to make the assembly instructions as simple as possible, just using a normal superglue. As always, I have tried to make the model easy to print and as far as I remember I didn’t use any supports (I hate supports). I made this as a Christmas gift for my son and have worked hard to try and upload it before Christmas in case someone wanted to print one for themselves.

I have recently started to upload my models through Octoprint so no longer need an SD Card inserted into the machine. Not wanting to lose the card I created this little holder that screws to the top of the printer. I have also used the holder on another printer, simply using little sticky tabs to stick it in place. I used supports from the bed only and did have to file the slot slightly to get the card to slide in.

Okay so first off, although I have called this a lock it is not a lock, but more a latch. I origin ally designed it for a treasure chest project I made a few years ago. The chest was made from cardboard and so the lock was made specifically for cardboard. When I decided to upload it, I wanted it to be more versatile, so redesigned it to fit anything. More like a traditional lock. The current design requires a couple of springs, I used ones I got from amazon. Unfortunately, these are no longer...

I Know there are a lot of Starbug models online, but when I looked at them all the STLs available where all grouped meaning if one part goes wrong of gets damaged you have to reprint the entire model. My only option was to create my own and here is the result. I know there is going to be some detail missing, the thin rods on the legs for instance. This has been done deliberately to enable easier printing and assembly. I used an infill of 20% on the body and 100% on the smaller parts.

I was inspired to make this after the final episode of Call the Midwife which showed a wind up carousel. After printing and assembling I found that some of the parts didn’t quite work the way I had intended. I altered these firstly to simplify the model and secondly to make assembly easier. Most of the model was printed with an infill of 20%, the smaller parts I printed at 100%. The model does need assembling and gluing, I used a good quality superglue. To help with the assembly I have...

I have a number of hobbies and interests apart from 3D printing, one of which is book binding. So the obvious challenge for me was to combine the two and create some sort of 3D printed, hand bound book. My son came up with the initial idea of using the imagery from the first series of the walking dead as it fit the dimensions needed perfectly. I have uploaded a version of the front cover without the holes if you prefer, or if you fancy recreating the journal I have supplied a video by Jenifer...

This is a variation on my previous design that proved to be a little unstable with larger phones. I took inspiration from my in-car holder and put the side grips on. I am always catching my phone and knocking it of sideways so hopefully this will solve that problem. The sides are geared so that they pull out together, just make sure when you glue them in place you get them straight, unlike me. It’s pretty straight forward how to put it together, but if you have any problems let me know and I...

I designed this following a request from a friend of a friend. When I looked at images of the Iron Giant with its long, very thin legs and arms I first thought how on earth can I not only print something this delicate, but also make it strong enough to carry on your keys as a keyring. I then came across an image of a baby type Iron Giant and thought this will be ideal. All the features are exaggerated and enlarged, perfect for a keyring. The model itself (as you will see when you load it into a...

####UPDATE#### I have now uploaded a Walking Dead top. I have not printed this, but it is just a mod of the original. This was my first project using Fusion 360. Although I found learning and using the program extremely frustrating at time, I think the results are really good and is an application well worth learning, especially as it is totally free. https://www.autodesk.co.uk/products/fusion-360/overview. My son asked me to print him a wall mounted phone holder. I looked at what other people had done and decided to do something a little different as a Christmas gift. He loves all the Marvel and super hero things, so what better than the “Agents of Shield”. Originally it sat flat against the wall, but we found it difficult to grab the phone, so I added piece to the back so it stood away from the wall. This also enables it to be used on a table top.

I was inspired to design this model because I am exhibiting at the premier of the new Terry Pratchett film “The Troll Bridge” on the 27 of May 2019 at the Ffwrnes Theatre, Park Street, Llanelli, South Wales. I used Fusion 360 for the design and printed with an infill of 20% and used a PLA filament. The model was finished using Acrylic paints and at some point I will give the model a clear coat.

I was in my local Wilko store recently and as always, I was looking for inspiration. During this visit I came across an elf door. I had heard of these, apparently you place them somewhere in your room and move things about each day to convince your kids that an elf is watching them, making sure they are good. I didn’t want to make a door, there’s hundreds of them. How about then… a window??? This is a simple concept: stick the window to a wall, cupboard, self, whatever you want. I used...

I created this set as a Christmas present for my wife. The pommel is curtesy of 3DNublet on Thingiverse who has some fantastic designs. The pen was printed in 2 halves to allow easier printing, these will need to be glued together. You will also need a refill from a biro to insert into the end. With the rise in popularity last year of the Halloween Tree, I was inspired to produce my first Halloween Bauble. A simple project that relies on the paint job (that I am not very good at) rather than the 3d printing to make it successful. Using Looxis Faceworks (https://looxis-faceworx.en.uptodown.com/windows) I produce a face taken from 2 photos of myself. This was then stretched and distorted in Openscad to fit on the side of a sphere. A simple bauble connector was created on the top and...

I love Simons Cat (https://www.youtube.com/user/simonscat). Anyone who has a cat can easily relate to these videos. If you love cats, they are a must see. I was browsing pictures of Simons Cat on google the other day and came across this one and thought it would make the perfect phone stand. This was a very easy project and unbelievably easy to paint. It also fits together so well that no glue was required (very rare for me).

I have been wanting to make a clock for a long time and bought the movement from Wish a couple of months ago. I didn’t like my original design so put the project on the back burner for a while. I only recently started watching Game of Thrones and was inspired by this dragon logo. I liked this halve of my original bookends model so much, I thought I would remix it as a standalone model. Although I have used some elements from the original, most of the model needed to be completely remodel. As with my original I printed with an infill of 30% on the larger pieces and 70% on the smaller. The smaller parts also needed a brim to help secure them to the bed and I left supports active for the entire print just in case they were needed. Some parts needed a little work to make...

Having struggled to find my glasses this morning, I thought “where can I put them so they are easy to find?” That’s when I came up with this idea. It was a quick and easy project in openscad. Printed with a 70% infill in 2 parts and glued together. It did turn out a shade too big for my monitor which is 19mm deep, so I stuck a small piece of felt to the inside. If you like this idea but require a different size, let me know and I’ll make the adjustments.

This model was inspired by my wife. She had seen something similar but more basic in a magazine and asked if I could make one. I designed this in 3 pieces to allow it to fit on my printer bed. This was a continuation of my fairground theme. I also wanted to try using gears. I used a variety of infills depending on the parts. Obviously the smaller parts needed a greater infill. There are a lot of individual parts to this model. I have tried to keep the part count as low as possible, but wanted to be able to print with as little support material as possible. I have provided full written assembly instructions to ease assembly. The model stand 22cm (8.5 inch's) tall and 15cm (6 inch's)...

The purchase of a set of battery powered t-light candles inspired this project. The candle is held in the base by a disk that is secured with super glue before the glass and top (which is part of an old water bottle) are glued. STL’s I have uploaded for the top are for both as one part and as separates. The reason for this is that I hate using supports, I feel sometimes it is just a waste of filament, so I always try to find another way. If this means having to glue a part together I am happy...

I created this to preserve a small snowman Christmas ornament my future wife sold me 30 years ago. I 3D printed the top and bottom and cut a small portion from a water bottle for the middle. I used supports for the top to ensure I had an open space to receive the clear plastic and glued it in place with a hot glue gun. I tried super glue, but for some reason the bottle plastic would not stick.
