The Benilde-St. Margaret’s girls soccer team lost to Blake in the Section 5A final. The Bears’ Cate Moe scored on a free kick with less than 20 seconds left in regulation to give Blake a 2-1 win. The teams had traded goals in the first half and it looked like overtime was coming until Moe’s winner. Blake is into the class A tournament for the second time in three seasons. The Breck boys soccer team fell to rival Blake 3-2 in the Section 5A final Thursday in Osseo. Blake controlled play in the first half and took a 1-0 lead on Will Mortenson’s goal about 25 minutes into the match. Breck tied the game late in the half on a header by Parker Sargent. The second half was unusual, and a little controversial. Blake was awarded three penalty kicks in the half. Gunnar Evenstad stopped the first one, but Jackson Lagos converted the next two to give Blake a 3-2 lead....

An organization dedicated to helping local youth who face barriers to employment just got a big funding boost to help its mission. BrookLynk, a youth employment program directed by Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center, received a $75,000 “Youth at Work” grant from Minnesota’s Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).
