We observe that the equation of motion for a free scalar field in a closed universe with radiation and a positive cosmological constant is given by Lam\'e's equation. Computing the exact power spectrum of scalar field perturbations, the presence of both curvature and radiation produces a red tilt weakly dependent on the amount of radiation.

We propose here some new sampling algorithms for Path Sampling in the case when stochastic dynamics are used. In particular, we present a new proposal function for equilibrium sampling of paths with a Monte-Carlo dynamics (the so-called ``brownian tube'' proposal). This proposal is based on the continuity of the dynamics with respect to the random forcing, and generalizes all previous approaches. We investigate random, discrete Schr\"odiner operators which arise naturally in the theory of random matrices, and depend parametrically on Dyson's Coulomb gas inverse temperature $\beta$. They belong to the class of "critical" random Schr\"odiner operators with random potentials which diminish as $|x|^{-{1/2}}$. We show that as a function of $\beta$ their eigenstates undergo a transition from extended ($\beta \ge 2 $) to power-law localized ($0 < \beta < 2$).
