Billy Pilgrim Blues By Primal Consumers. Kurt Vonnegut called the song "excellent" but was bothered by one verse "I haven't ever fought in a war, do they still have those things anymore" because of the flippant attitude towards war. Originally named simply The Consumers, the band changed its name when it became aware of other bands with the same name. The band's lyrics were extensively quoted in the science fiction novel Ziebrig.

The Consumers Blue Light Special Cassette Tape cover. Originally called The Consumers, the band changed its name to Primal Consumers because of a band merger. The album Blue Light Special includes the song Billy Pilgrim Blues, based on a character in Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five. Vonnegut called the song "excellent" but criticized one line in which lyricist Boyle discounts war. Primal Consumers lyrics were quoted extensively in the science fiction novel Ziebrig.

Kurt Vonnegut's letter to the band The Consumers regarding their album Blue Light Special. He comments on the songs Plastic Debt and Billy Pilgrim Blues. The letter is dated June 6, or D-Day. The Consumers later changed their name to The Primal Consumers because of a name conflict. The band was also extensively quoted in the science fiction novel Ziebrig.

Journalist Tom Roston provided a history of Kurt Vonnegut's writing of his novel about World War II, 'Slaughterhouse Five," and questioned if Vonnegut's own PTSD from the war was reflected in the writing. Slipping through time. I borrowed the terms "unstuck in time" and "so it goes" from one of my favorite authors. April 6, 2017 - Re reading Vonnegut with my son and got inspired to re-record this song. Just added Recording40 version. Much better sound quality. Mono. Recorded with an S7 Phone. The second file on here is the first recoding I made of the song just after writing it. My dad had died; I was in Morocco reflecting on life. Peace2U, Dan
