A huge art installation is in the works at Anoka-Ramsey Community College involving hundreds of students, alumni and community members. The finished product will be a 1,000 square foot mural on the Coon Rapids campus. The months-long project is funded by a $56,000 grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Fire officials are crediting working smoke detectors for alerting and likely saving the lives of four people after a home caught fire in the middle of the night.
