I love the cryptex mod by gummybear223 and the original variable USB flash drive cryptex by rwsmith123, but I wanted a simpler interior piece that would (a) print as a single piece rather than two halves and (b) have more interior space. This is the result. Print the main body, cap, and four sets of the inner and outer rings from gummybear223's cryptex and just one of this interior piece. Share and enjoy.

I wanted to print this at 0.3mm layer height for a quick print and even the loosest inner ring was too tight. I couldn't work with the original topology easily (it was constructed with booleans) so I remodeled and shrunk the inner ring in both directions. Now it actually spins and I can also get the outer ring on and off for reprogramming rather than it being stuck on forever. Laser cut cryptex / puzzle box. Number of code wheels can be varied as required, once cut and glued codes can be changed by removing and rotating the outer digit wheels. Designed for 2.5mm ply with only glue required to assemble, though captive nuts and M3 bolts can be used to hold on the code wheel open end if future changing of the password is required. All an other parts in https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3090603 The original is too big. At a scale of about 70%, gift banknotes fit easily inside (depends of country). But ... Problem: 10_Letters_Inner_Core.stl is too weak in 70% scale. I used Nylon, but walls is still thin. Need to put Bottle.stl inside. Use the same scaling. The Space.stl model is just for correcting errors in dimensions or eaten first layers. Scale so the rings are straight.

A very simple change to the 10 letter Cryptex making it a 5 letter variant. I sliced the cores nearly in half and adjusted the retainer ring to allow the letter rings to move freely within the new dimensions.

I designed a modular cryptex that can be printed one ring at a time with no support material such that you can glue together as many segments as you want. The cryptex in the photo is six letters long, but it could just as well be four or ten. The rings are designed with detents to click from one character to the next and stay in place while you adjust the next ring and enter the full code. I've tried other designs like this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:651654 but the wheels didn't turn ok (so tight), so I designed my own version for this nice toy. The secret is fixed, I mean, you need to choose 6 numbers and print them. You can change the sequence of these numbers, but you can't fully personalise the secret like other designs. One advantage, this prints faster (less parts) and the usefull inside diameter is bigger. Nice prints !

This is a 5 Glyph (aka Lv8) Ingress themed cryptex. There are approx 60 of the 100 or so Ingress glyphs used. With the original design, it was tricky to determine what should be 'pulled' to open the puzzle. It was also tricky to get a grip on, or get fingernails under to open. This pull makes it more obvious and easy to grasp
