Not the best screen adaptation of a Jules Verne sci-fi adventure, mostly because of RKO's extreme cost cutting during production. Whole scenes were droped and the FX budget cut to the bone. Still its good cast makes it worth seeing if you can find a copy. TRIVIA: Part of the musical background was recycled from "Forbidden Planet." RKO's last production before going out of business. It ended up being distributed by Warner Brothers.
