'Unified' is a short film made by Matt Lownes about the Unified Basketball League at the East Hampton High School! Matt followed the team for a few weeks and quickly learned how awesome the athletes, partners, and coaches were. The inspiring team recently finished their season and Matt honored them by creating this short film! Enjoy!

These files are support for the Tactile Symbol Set. Included are the bases for each word category to create your own words (ex. student-specific fringe vocab). I also included some specific symbols that have an English-bias with the parts not grouped, so they could be edited to reflect the student's native language by replacing letters on the symbol.

These mobility cards are used in our Special Education department by our Mobility Experts. As we train children who are visually impaired how to navigate walkways, we use these cards to help them form concrete understanding of the world around them. When we approach an intersection, we can hand a card to a child and let them know that this walkway will look a certain way. As we talk about the sounds and the mobility concerns, children feel confident to walk a new path or to explore new areas.

A country’s understanding of special education is reflected in its policy interventions. Purport of special education has never been universal, especially when it comes to how different nations define it. U.S is considered as forerunner of the interventions related to special education where in its comparison Indian legislation began attending to disability much later. India can be seen as toddler amidst the nations which are attending to the discourse of special education from a long time....

A child whom we call a slow learner is not always in need of special education. What needs to be understood is such a child is likely to need some extra time and help in regular class room. He is capable by learning like an average child. A slow learner is one who learn at a slower than average rate. Then we have to advise educational programs for slow learners. Slow learner work best with a changeful designed step. Slow learners can learn if instruction is approached changefully. The ways in...
