This video is of a St. John Valley Senior College (Fort Kent, Maine) field trip to visit the Eagle Lake Train and Tramway on the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. The Tramway operated from 1901 until 1911 and carried logs from Eagle Lake to Chamberlain Lake. The Trains operated from 1928 until 1933 and carried wood from Eagle Lake to Umbazooksus Lake.

This video is a Senior College class on the Webster-Ashburton Treaty of 1842 which established the boundary between parts of the US, including Maine, and British North America. In the St. John River Valley, in northern Maine, the boundary separated families that had settled on both sides of the river. The class looks at the social, economic, and cultural changes brought on by the boundary settlement.

In 1842, the boundary between Maine and Canada was settled. Part of the border followed the St. John River. Families living on both sides of the river were divided.
