On Monday July 30th a historic groundbreaking was held at the Scranton Peninsula as part of the Towpath Trail/Cuyahoga River Restoration Project. Senator Sherrod Brown, Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson, County Executive Ed FitzGerald and a broad consortium of public and private leaders shared in this significant accomplishment. It is the first step in connecting downtown Cleveland with the Ohio Corridor.

George Baldwin's 1829 survey of the Middlesex Canal is plotted in a Google Earth Pro aerial view between the Concord River summit pond of the canal and the Merrimack River. The instrument at turning points being presumably in the center of the towpath, the line as plotted is the centerline of the 10' wide towpath.
