I made this active cooler specially for a Mbot 3d but might still fit on most mk8 & mk7 dual extruders i used a 24v blower fan to minimize size, link bellow. http://www.dx.com/p/av-0-13a-24v-2-pin-hdd-27-blade-cooling-fan-black-red-305655#.VCbNR2ddWaI any tips let me know

This is an active cooling fan solution for the Replicator 2X. It is similar to the design by ten13th except it is made to work with any 40mm front-discharge fan. It is secured in place with two of the long hex bolts from the extruder, and the fan is secured to the duct using the bottom 2 screws. I tried initially to use the MakerBot motherboard's cooling fan relay, however this is a 24V output so it should only be used with 40mm cooling fans rated for 24V. The relay did not seem to respond well...

This thing is a new take on my previous work making an extension duct to allow the very common dual extruder Active Cooling Fan from thruit00 (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:537918) to work with the stock FFCP2016 (and other models) side blower fan (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1746693). As I was working on fixing things I decided it might be nice in some cases to be able to control the air flow to the right or left extruder. I began playing with the idea of integrating a basic damper...

After a board failure in my Printrbot Simple Metal, I replaced my printrboard electronics with a mini-RAMBO card and the latest version of Marlin Firmware. I hand-made a mounting adapter to fit the mini-RAMBO where the printrboard had fitted, in the space under the printer. It rapidly became clear that I needed to actively cool the A4988 drivers in the mini-RAMBO card, hence this fan holder. It just clips to the underside of the printer, blowing air upwards over the electronics. Wire the fan...

UPDATE: I've redesigned this to include a damper to restrict airflow to a particular extruder. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1753983 That version is significantly more useful. I really liked the design of the active cooling fan duct from thruit00 (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:537918) primarily because it gets cooling from multiple directions for both extruder head. This seemed to me to be important in a number of cases. However, I wanted a way to use the existing side blower fan on my...

Harvesting energy from the sun makes the photovoltaic (PV) power generation a promising technology. To obtain a consistent state of charge (SOC), consistent energy must be harvested and efficiently directed to the battery. Overcharging or undercharging phenomena decreases the lifetime of the battery. Besides, the effect of irradiance toward solar in term of sunlight intensity effects the efficiency and hence, sluggish the SOC. The main problem of the solar panel revealed when the temperature...

This bracket enables you to give active cooling to the hot end of TAZ3. It helps with the problem of the Hobbed bolt digging into the filament because it keeps the aluminum flange of the Budaschnozzle cooler, which keeps the segment of filament between the heat radiating fins and the top aluminum flange in solid (in hardened state). Active cooling makes your printer less picky on what brand of Filament to use... For example, I can now use ABS from MatterHacker, DeltaMaker, IC3D, etc. I was not...

I have an old dual-extruder replicator clone, and the 2nd extruder was nothing but trouble so I got rid of it and use it as a single machine. This gives me room for a big ol' fan! I really loved the fan ultravincent designed, it was so easy to install, but I was noticing a definite quality difference between the side of the print that faced the fan and not. So I basically borrowed his amazing latch connector thing and plopped a ring duct around it. I designed it in Blender with shapes and some...

Airflow optimized and space efficient active cooling adapter for a standard 80mm fan with 71.5mm screw spacing. Use 3 x 8mm or 2x 10mm screws (no middle screw in latter case - don't damage the chip behind that one!) for mounting the adapter to the card. Screw head diameter needs to be 5mm or smaller.

This Active Cooling System is made for the Wanhao Duplicator 4 series and Flashforge. This variation is made to fit blower type fans that is 40mm big (24V), 20mm thick, although 10mm thickness would probably work too. ### UPDATE! (V2) Hey guys, if you have downloaded the previous duct, please redownload V2. I noticed there's some problems with the fan position being too high that it hits the casing when the extruder is being homed. This has been corrected in V2, it now sits below the case with...

Recently, piezoelectric fan has gained attention as potential active cooling method for electronics devices. Even though the piezoelectric requires high voltage, there are findings to overcome the shortcomings. Adding on a magnet at the tip of the piezoelectric fan to activate other magnetic passive fans is one of the methods to increase the total amplitude generated by the fans. This paper will discuss on the performance of integrated piezoelectric fan with passive fans (later refer to...

This is an updated version of the cooling fan box for TAZ3 I posted previously. The update involves modifications of the holes and addition of a heat sink cooling hole. I found the heat sink cooling is a nice force cooling for the heat sink, It keeps the aluminum parts cool and it minimizes the digging-in problem which enables the printer to print with more brands of filaments. Yes, you can tape the holes you are not using. For example you want to tape the filament cooling hole when you are not...

I realized this system of cooling because it is necessary to wait a certain time before being able to take off the piece of the plate. I find that the result is efficient, it must of course activate the fans only at the end of printing. it takes 9 minutes to go from 60 ° to 35 ° Celcius with a single fan, I placed two fans on my CR10 but I have not had time to test :-) I will now realize the electronic system to make it automatic at the end of printing. Do not hesitate to come back to see the...

Also, I added the slot for a camera cable as in other remixes (like this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4601571) I power the fan via 3,3V to reduce noise, even a Noctua fan gets loud at some point. There is still a little bit clearance between the fan and the heatsink on the...

This is a mounting kit to add a 80mm computer case fan to your 3d printer as an active cooling fan. This was designed for the RepRapGuru Prusa i3 v2, but it should work with any printer with a Mk7/8 extruder. I designed the screw holes to work with the extra screws that came with my printer kit. The screw holes should be narrow enough that the screw threads bite into the plastic and hold it in place without need for nuts. Depending on your hardware and printer settings, you may need to adjust...

This provides short bursts of cool air directly aimed at the print nozzle, which helps reducing warpage by not cooling the entire platform. I use this setup to print very small and detailed parts which would otherwise turn in to blobs of ABS. You can simply screw it in front of the fans. I used...

The idea behind this is to mount a sensor + 2 40mm turbo fan without having to worry for dimensions, this is specifically designed for all the Makerbot Replicator 1 dual clone, that don't want to drop the second extruder, since it comes in handy with ditto printing, and want the cooling of the piece, for better look and aspect of the printed parts. Active cooling is an absolute necessity for printing with PLA. It just doesn't cool fast enough to get good results otherwise. Axial fans do not provide the CFM and pressure to adequately do this job, in my humble, non-fluid-fluent opinion. Hell, I don't even know what laminar vs turbulent flow is. But a blower fan will provide more of what you want for this application than an 'axial' fan. Sometimes it seems too much, but my PLA parts have fine sharp edges so I thought I'd share what I've been...

Since I used this X-carriage, I used the same system to attach the duct on the head: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:84345 You might have to adjust the holes sizes, by hand to make a better fit. (especially for the part 3) I welded part 1 and 2 by melting the edge with a lighter, but you can use glue as well. Part 2 should be around 2 layers thick. On the picture...

Bassna remixed thruit00's cooling vent, and disabled the left side. Good! I don't have a left extruder on my FlashForge 95% of the time, so this works well. BUT, Bassna left some extra mass on the part (womp-womp, I'm always trying to save on gantry weight), as well as a tiny vent still pushing air to the unused side (tsk!). Nice thing about thingiverse, I don't have to whine, request a remix, wait for a V2.45, whatever. Just remodel and share. So, this is a right-side-only extruder fan (mirror...

I own a CTC Dual 3d printer and do not use the second extruder for more than to do some early tests. This second extruder and his wires only causes more vibrations and troubles when maintenance. So i remove it and use the extra space for adding an active cooling system. This produces great results when PLA printing (or very small parts from some materials). If you want an efective active cooling system, try it. It is clean and compact design and produces better results than any of standard...

With this solution we achieved an constant drop to 65 degrees Celsius. We used an Arctic P8 fan (any 80x80x25 fan should work) running on 5V instead of 12V due to the noise level. Sure the results should be even better with 12V, but it had to be silent, because the UDM is in the living room. So we decided to run it from an usb charging brick. The fan should...

I printed a multi-piece reservoir and it actually worked really well so I decided to redesign as 3 pieces with a gasket printed in ninja-flex. Print this solid with 5 tops, 5 bottoms and 5 shells with slight over-extrusion preferred over under-extrusion. Print the gasket @100% infill out of ninjaflex or another TPU.

Obsolete: please see here for a much better solution: - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2429033 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:221306 As the 2X comes without active cooling for PLA prints (a great project which works on a retrofit can be found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:90174 ) I designed this simple frame to allow the installation of up to 3x 90mm PC fans for active cooling. Simply remove the hood, open the door and slide the frame on.

Simple but very useful and airtight filter cloth frame for 120mm PC fan or Wall airtunnel hole. I will use only dust and nanoparticle filter cloth but you can use even active charcoal filter in this if you need :) Screw hole sizes for M4 bolts (4,40mm hole) Outer dimensions 120x120mm Hole dimensions 105x105mm FLIP OBJECTS TO FLAT POSITION BEFORE PRINTING/SLICING !! History: -added Pictures -added better 3Dmodels -added Frame with Grid and better grooves -removed old files and pictures (when...

Fan mount for side mounted Geeetech control board. Made this to get rid of the noisy 40mm fan of my Geeetech Prusa i3 printer and mount a 80mm Fractal fan instead. Use the screws supplied with the fan to attach it and slide the "lip" of the fan mount under the board from above. Use the slots in the base to route the cables away from the board to maximize the air flow over the components that need it. After changing the extruder fan and the board cooling fan of my printer I no longer...

Attention: Rev3 has now the lower mounting hole accessible, which was not the case with rev2. Due to lately abnormal print terminations which I assume came from the stepper motor drivers overheating, I modified the original Prusa Rambo Case to have an active cooling fan and also air vents on top of the case. Fan details: 12V/0.6W 40x40mm outer dimension 32x32mm hole distance width doesn't matter As the fan is very quiet I connected it permanently to 12V.

I've some people mention that longer prints with PLA require active cooling. This duct is intended to replace one of the small plastic sides between the front and back acrylic plates for your MK5-6 style extruder. The smallest fan I could find at the local electronics store was a 40mm fan. However, the front and back acrylic plates are only 35mm apart. This duct gives a mount for a 40mm fan, letting it blow air into a 40mm diameter cone, which narrows to 35mm, which goes to a 35mm wide duct...
