A PMMA Air Force visor with 1.06 micron absorber IR282 and .53 micron absorber K283 was studied for its utility as a laser protective material. The visor material was found to have an optical density approx. 6 at 1.06 micron and approx. 4 at .53 micron with a luminous transmittance of 44%. More bleaching was observed at high irradiance levels for IR282 in PMMA than in MMA. Pulse narrowing effects were noted and taken into account for the optical density calculations. An explanation is given for...

The protective goggles were designed to help medical workers or any other users, who are at risk of getting infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 disease. It presents an alternative to face shields. This model utilizes 3D-printed frame with shield cut out from transparent PVC sheet and optional nose piece. 1. Frame of the goggles In order to be flexible, it needs to be printed from PETG. Due to its slim proportions it needs a 2mm Brim. 2. Nose piece This part is optional....

Here's a little clip to neatly and sturdily attach reading lens' to your FPV goggles to help you focus and reduce eye strain. I have Eachine VR-006 goggles but I imagine the same arrangement would work on a number of other models too. The lens is a cheap (as in $4 cheap!) reading lens from Bangood that is meant to grab your nose, so I designed a clip that the lens can grap instead. The lens' can be flexed apart gently by hand to remove for cleaning. I printed the clip in PLA and glued in into...

I hard-wired my ProDVR into my EV100 goggles and this is a better way of mounting it than sticking it on top of the goggles. To insert the strap into the slot, it helps to stretch it while inserting it. I updated it to version 2: The strap is now in the middle (it looks nicer).

Update: "The Bass Clip MKII" - ergonomic shape - less material - more flexibility This is a solution for the HTC Vive Pro's sound problem with missing deeper frequencies (the bass). The problem itself comes from the missing pressure a normal headphone strap would apply to press the headphones against your ears to seal the air in the speaker for building up enough sound pressure for most of the frequencies (especially bass needs some amount of a sealed volume of air to build up sound...

U.S. Army Aviation relies upon image intensifiers, such as night vision goggles (NVGs), for night nap-of-the-earth (NOE) flight. During initial flight training, OH-58 student pilots are expected to apply academic knowledge of NVG use in flight after limited review. To facilitate OH-58 students' transition to NVG flight, researchers projected images through a prototype near- infrared (IR) video projection system. Helicopter pilot students received hands- on experience with the AN/PVS-5A NVGs,...

Use of night vision goggles (NVGs) for military applications has grown steadily over the past 30 years. Each successive NVG model represents some kind of improvement in terms of size, weight, ruggedness, gain, noise, spectral sensitivity, field-of-view or resolution. The primary focus of this paper is the determination of NVG resolution. Many methods have been devised to measure the resolving power of NVGs and each method has with it an associated variance or accuracy of measurement. This...

In order to enhance flight performance, numerous Naval and joint DoD development programs feature head-supported devices (HSD) for fixed and rotary wing aircraft, e.g. night vision goggles and displays. However, wearing these systems during long duration operations or while exposed to repeated shock, impact, ejection, and crash increases the risk of spinal injury. Night vision goggles (NVGs) are widely used to enhance visual capability during night operations. NVGs are basically composed of an objective lens which focuses an image onto the photo-cathode of an image intensifier tube which in turn produces an amplified image that is viewed through an eyepiece lens. There are several versions of NVGs in use and in development. These include the AN/PVS-5,AN/AVS-6, PVS-7, Cat's Eyes, Nite-Op, Eagle Eyes, Merlin, and others. The first section of this paper...

Night vision goggles (NvGs) intensify ambient illumination making it possible to see in the dark despite insufficient light for normal vision. NVGs are used for military and civilian operations, and as visual aids for night blindness. The quality and quantity of vision achieved through NVGs depends on several factors including the intensity of ambient radiation, the integrity of NVG electro-optical components, and the luminance, contrast and resolution of the NVG display. The purpose of this...

A non-reflecting boundary condition (NRBC) for practical computations in fluid dynamics and aeroacoustics is presented. The technique is based on the first principle of non-reflecting, plane wave propagation and the hyperbolicity of the Euler equation system. The NRBC is simple and effective, provided the numerical scheme maintains locally a C(sup 1) continuous solution at the boundary. Several numerical examples in 1D, 2D, and 3D space are illustrated to demonstrate its robustness in practical...

The screen friction fits into the stand, absolving the need for rear mounts which may inhibit cooling while in use.
