This hot end is the result of my attempt to build the Wildseyed Simple Hot End by jcabrer for my Simpler repstrap. I live in Metric land, along with the ROW (rest of the world) which started my journey down the path less taken to begin with... I noticed that it would be possible to use the previously unused M6 thread on the MIG tip to our advantage, and make the tip itself easily exchangeable. This design also makes the fitting of the PTFE easier and more precisely aligned than I could manage...

The stock shroud provided with the MakerFarm hexagon-style hot end suffers in that it clips onto the heat tube of the hot end. This causes the shroud to soften and melt, often dropping onto the hot end aluminum block where the melted shroud often drips onto the print or print bed. The oversized fan and shroud also allow a lot of airflow to bypass the hot end heatsink, reducing the amount of cooling actually obtained. Two alternatives to the stock shroud are provided here. Both use a 25mm fan...

The original fix was a good idea that CHEP took and put on youtube. you basically install a bit of PTFE tubing permanently into your hotend so you know the fit at the nozzle is perfect, then your bowden tube only goes as far as the top of the cold end, making tube changes easier. It works well, I have done it to mine and I got an improvement in reliability from doing it. The one small issue is the size of CHEP's washer that holds the internal tube in place is so big that you can't screw on the...

I designed a stand to commemorate and pay tribute to my original extruder hot end after upgrading from the ubis to the ubis 13s on my simple metal. Not sure about the diameter of all hot ends and how universal they are, but this one is 16mm in diameter and you can scale it to fit yours accordingly. I'll admit it looks a bit phallic, but, what am I to do...! :)

This is a dummy model of the Arcol.hu hot-end v3.0, because a hot-end can\'t be printed using plastic:) You can print it to get a general feeling of the actual size. Also the mounting should be correct, so if you are working on your own machine, or new drive mechanism, you can adapt it easily by printing out this model. The M3 bolt heads are commented out in the .scad file, to be printable. I also added real photos for comparison. You can read more about the hot-end itself at:...

This holder makes working on your hot end easier. If your hot end is clogged for instance, you can remove it from your printer to make it accessible again. But it’s not very handy for heating the hot end up, with the cables still attached to the printer. To make the hot end more accessible I made the “Hot End repair holder”. Now you can remove your hot end from your printer and place it into the “Hot End repair holder”. This holder also has the option of heating your hot end, so you...

My last hot end. Temperatures were taken with a thermocouple in direct contact with the inside of the nozzle. The temperature measured at the end of the threaded M6 rod, stabilises at 46°C above the room temperature when the hot end is kept at 250°C. I had to set the temperature at 273°C in order to reach 250°C. But I used the distribution table for the thermistor.

This is a hot-end modification for the MK4 extruder that removes the PTFE, which is prone to melting and swelling, from the hot end. It is a derivitive of lampmaker's all-steel hot end ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3452 ), where this design uses the brass parts from a failed MK4 hot-end plus some easily made aluminum fins.

After considerable time and many failures to make an 'all metal' hot end I caved and changed the design to include a teflon liner. The majority of the design is borrowed from others hot end designs with a few of my tweaks. This is designed for use with a bowden setup and a water cooled block but could work on an air cooled non-bowden setup. Requires a metal lathe but can be a cheap 'mini-lathe' (I used a harbor freight one). Goals are to be reliable, easy to make, easy to service, and not...

My new hot end design. It's not yet built, but I will try to make it in steel and brass as soon as possible! I do not have any software for virtual heat tests, so there is no guarantee that it will work. The hot end is designed to be easily manufactured in a manual lathe. The plug on top is a drilled M8 threaded rod, the body will be made of carbon steel or aluminum, I don't know yet. Edit1: changed the design to fit j-head nozzles from ebay

This part is a backup fan for Hot end Heat sink. It happens that each fan has a lifespan of a few 10000's hours. After a while due to lifespan or dust or what ever else, your fans will start making some noise. This is an indicator that your fan might get stuck in a near future and that you might need to oil the bearing or change your fan. With full or half metal hot ends, the fan for the heat sink is MANDATORY. If it fail before printing, it's not a big deal you can change it before starting...

This is a remake of the fan duct for cooling the E3D All metal hot end. It has the same basic shape as the official one but was modeled from scratch in SolidWorks. The internal transition is a bit smoother and the fan hole spacing has been adjusted to fit a bit better. The fan duct in the photo is printed in PLA. PLA doesn't stand high temperatures very well but so far I've had no issues. The screw holes for mounting the 30mm fan are sized for M3x16 machine screws.

This is an aluminum braket for a diamond hot end. I designed this in Sketchup, Used CamBam to create the macing operation G_Code files and then machined in on a Sherline CNC Mill

My acrylic insulator retainer broke when I tried to tighten the screws on it too much. My thermal insulator was a bit wobbly... So I looked for a thing to print to replace it, but all I found was this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1004 it should work just the same, but I thought I would update to the newest version (the non-round version)

Mounting plates to attach a hot end to a standard Wade's + OpenX combo. -Solid Plate- The solid one well do the job fine, though you'll have to rout out some of the wades in order to get nuts in. I designed it to use mainly as a template for an MDF or aluminum version that can be hand cut and drilled. -Printed Plate- A printed mounting plate is an interesting and difficult problem. It has to deal with the hot plume coming off the hot end, as well as the heat conducted up the threaded rod...

This is a replacement for the lousy little squirrel cage fan on the Taz 5 Hexagon Hotend. There is a Taz 6 mount you can make but I didn't want to have to print the entire assembly just to get a better fan on the vanes. This is a simple solution that I hope helps others than me. It required no modifications to the Taz other than wiring in the new fan. It takes a 25mm M2 bolt w/washer to mount to the original cage fan hole, or you can do what I did and order 20mm bolts by mistake and have to...
