A friend of mine is somewhat obsessed with dividers (in a manner similar to the author of this piece: https://bigjumppress.wordpress.com/2014/09/30/divide-my-heart-an-ode-to-my-favorite-tool/), so I adapted LoboCNC's excellent print in place compass so that it measures and transfers distance rather than drawing circles. It was a simple matter to mirror the pointed end in Openscad so that both arms are symmetrical. The only improvement I can think of is adding holes for sewing pins or something...

A kaleidocycle that prints-in-place! No need to assemble anything; the kaleidocycle comes out of the printer bed ready to use. And it prints without supports as well. The models shown in the photos were printed in PLA. Print at 0.2mm layer resolution or better (the blue one is printed at 0.3mm layer resolution and it doesn't move smoothly). The purple and white are 0.2mm prints and the pink one is a 0.1mm print--the three of them work perfectly well. I have uploaded two versions of the thing....

Video of prototype: https://youtu.be/gbsthg5cwzg Finished item: https://youtu.be/4b8INuYfqpU Simple design with great off-the-print-bed flexibility. If a longer belt is needed than the print bed allows, you can clip together multiple copies end to end. Design is parametric. Alter to your specifications in OpenSCAD, or use Customizer here for limited changes. I find Customizer very unreliable and prone to crashing, so I highly recommend trying out OpenSCAD. This was inspired by: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-giroscope-71880 Unfortunately I couldn't get it to print properly on my printer, so I designed something similar from scratch in OpenSCAD. This model should print flat, without supports or rafts. Once removed from the bed all rings should rotate freely. The parameters in the .scad file should be pretty self-explanatory. The clearance between the parts is adjustable via the "clearance" variable in the file (increase...

Since making the TRD sculptures I've been pondering how to add programmable LEDs to them. I worked out one solution yesterday in which I print (in place) a hollow tube inside the TRD sculpture. Since the tube is hollow I can push up within it an AdaFruit NeoPixel strip. I've included two versions, the second iteration has the tube more closely aligned to the shape of the sculpture.

A simple one piece print that I used as a sort of warm up to my bigger 1x2x3. If this doesn't work on your printer, then you can rest assured neither will my 1x2x3. I mostly made this as a test of how well my printer could print a pin that reaches into a neighboring block, where it gets wider effectively locking the two blocks together while still allowing them to turn freely. It is not a hard puzzle, but it is one that lots of my friends enjoy because of it's simplicity.

Summer's almost over, but it's still hot. It's still muggy. This fan prints all as a single piece, except for one small spacer that gets inserted to tighten up the assembly. Get fancy and print yours with a change of color (or two) mid-print. https://youtu.be/UZylBya21Ck (For some reason, Thingiverse is refusing to display the rendered FAN.STL. Not to worry - the file is there to download and it is correct.)

Designed this box to practice the 3D modeling of moving parts. It measures 10cm x 7cm x 5cm of height (two halves of 2.5cm each) and the walls have a thickness of 2mm. I made it so it needs almost no supports. You will have no waste of material, but I consider them to be necessary inside the hinge part, if you set it to generate supports over 80° you wont have unnecessary supports in other places.

This thing was a nightmare to design. Should print properly as my printer is only like 90% dialed in and I got it all moving. Pieces need some wiggling in order to all move but they do all move as they are supposed to. The spinner specifically requires you to wedge something in there and lift it up a bit as there is a bit of a gap that tends to stick a bit in order for it to spin nicely. I pre-placed the supports for the switch as they were a bit of a pain but they should play nicely. As for...

This is a design inspired by Maker's Muse's recent challenge to make a print-in-place slide puzzle! [Link here.](https://youtu.be/7KJ-RB6S3vY) My first design has 45 degree angles, and a horizontal clearance of 0.5 mm. There is no pattern on the top of the puzzle, but a sticker can fix that! I'll design another one soon with a topographic map on top. Included .f3d file in case you want to play around with it. The design is just okay, but it works.

I wanted to keep my raspberry pi keyboard out of the way when not in use. This is a work in progress - things you might want to note: - The keyboard is not held very securely with the current design. It is fine if you don't knock it. - Cracking the hinge can be a challenge, especially with PETG. Consider increasing elelphants foot compensation. I found I didn't need to force it to much if I applyed some heat to the base of the hinge.

This is a print-in-place clip for sealing large bags like garbage bags, or any other large bag whose odor/humidity/dryness is best kept inside. The usual flat clips that bend around the bag may become difficult to use for large or thick bags, therefore this one is round and rigid, and relies on the flexibility of the bag itself. It can also be useful to hold cables or hoses together, or for any other application where a round clip comes in handy. Although the clip is easy to open and close, it...

This print-in-place jewelry box is an exercise in extreme bridging. The built-in truss work on the underside of the drawers and top allow this to be printed without supports. It also uses the usual print-in-place tricks to allow the drawers to break free easily after printing. For the faint-of-heart, I've also included separate drawer, base and top parts that can be printed and assembled separately. Of course, with this version you will lose your print-in-place bragging rights...
