We've got a BFB 3D Touch and we've found that the 3mm PLA snaps in the feed tube almost every night. Getting the broken filament out is a real pain in the neck. To circumvent this we've taken to mounting the spool off the side of the machine. The arms are designed to fit a 1/2" dowel or other rod as that is what we had at the time.

Summary This spool holder is a great piece of work, but I do have many spools, and do not want to replace spool everytime, so I've made an adapter, that allows to stack spools on holder one of another. Just print it, mount on bottom spool, and you now can now place another spool on top. You can stack as many spools as your holder can handle. Justy print another adapter :P

I added two about 105mm long rolls and the needed screws. The advantage like this is that you can pop in different spools without needing to adjust the distance in between the left and right holder. Here's a custom design spool holder to hang the filament off the top of the Tevo Black Widow frame without adding much more overall height to the printer. I took his design, loaded it into Prusaslicer, converted it to metric, reorientated it to print with the ring down, repaired it with netfabb, and exported it to STL. Its made to accomodate one of those LM8UU linear bearings inside, so now the spool dont move arround when is extruded. The bearings are the ones that came with printer and i replaced by IGUS DryLin.
