This is probably the biggest point of failure for me on the Tarmo4 so far and I've had to reprint a bunch. So, I remade the item in Fusion 360 and made it just a little bit beefier adding a little more support around the holes for the M4 screws. I also modified the shock attachment hole, making it 4mm to accept a threaded metal heat insert - because there was no way those M3 screws were going to bite into the plastic.

Using the components linked below I've added front and rear LED lights to the Tarmo4. To accommodate their mounting I've created a modified front and rear shock mount each with their own Tarmo logo on them. I've also included each version without the logo as well. Print with orientation and settings listed in the Tarmo4 general instructions. LED Kit (provides front and rear lights, two on either side in one rewired harness with mounting hardware):...

Want an improved turn radius and improved control? Your printed steering rod balljoints have too much free travel therefore both wasting servo movement and allowing wheels travel freely independent from each other (instability). Watch how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUm1OtEFY_E Metal balljoints can be helpful here. You could add them to your existing center link but that will require something to space them out (well, changing the height using spacers is one way to adjust...

This is a strengthened 20A file that will work with the rod ends for steering links. This will not fit the 3D printed steering links. The material is thickened at the rod end mounts and also there is added material on the AFT holes that attach to the slave and master steering arm (20B and 20C). I had these break when the car crashed. The force of the impact caused the arms to fracture.

Rear locked diff for Tarmo4 with 13:38 gear ratio. The HSP 02024 diff kit, which is a replacement of the stock Traxxas kit, uses 13:38 gear ratio. This means it's incompatible with the original rear locked diff, which uses 1:2 ratio, because while the front wheels turn 2 rotations, the rears turn almost 3! Basically the vehicle cannot move forward without binding the gears/wheels all the time. I've modified the design to have 13:38 gear ratio, which is the same as the HSP kit. The result is...

It is mounted using two velcro straps glued onto sides of 02A Center Chassis component Check the awesome project by KrisCubed: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4178426. Engineering Nonsense community: https://www.reddit.com/r/EngineeringNS/ I printed it with Spectrum PLA PRO (also called PLA+ or Impact PLA by other brands). This material is a bit flexible, it doesn't break during a regular tumble.

This is a Remix for the Hot glue flex drive shaft for 12mm Hot glue sticks. Once printed cut the hot glue stick to the desired length and give it a firm push so it settles tightly in the tube. I think it is a great alternative if you do not want to print other material on your printer. No change of Material is necessary so no jamming issues are happening if you have just one extruder for all materials. I haven't stripped it yet, if you have suggestions, feel free to let me know. For the people like me, who are printing with less than recommended walls, bolt head holes will begin printing in the air and it needs a support, so I chamfered them. The other mod I made is to add another 2 connecting bolt holes on each side. I initially thought to build it without the m4 threaded rod, but later I otherwise bought one.

This is an updated open differential for Tarmo4 which runs smoother due to added ball bearings for the axel outputs. It also improves on the original bell housing attachment by having them to be secured with M2 screws as opposed wiring. It can be used with the original gearbox without any other extra modifications. Changes: - Differential housing has space for ball bearing to properly hold the axel in place. - Bell housing attachment hole has been moved farther with an added notch for the screw...

These are body mounts for the Tarmo 4. They were designed to support the Phantom XT body, but you should be able mount any custom drilled body on it. They come in 2 sizes : thin and large. The large only have one pin hole and are more sturdy. Their height is also smaller. You must use washers with the thin supports. I printed them on the side so the print layers are not vertical. That should make them even more sturdy. Enjoy !

Using some preexisting DJI FPV mounts for drones I remixed them to work for the Tarmo4 as an FPV system. The FC_ESC_CaseBot is glued to the center gear box top using Guerrilla Glue (any glue will do). I decided to do it this way to allow for mounting as desired by the user. The camera sits left of the air unit center line so gluing it on the right side of the gearbox lid allows for the camera to be perfectly centered. I included a basic wiring diagram of how I have my setup wired. The flight...

This is a bumper that is designed to be printed in TPU (I use Inland TPU) and attaches to the bumper bracket from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4306573 with m4x20mm screws, which I had left over from assembling the Tarmo4. I printed with 6 walls and 20% gyroid infill for it to have a reasonable amount of stiffness, since I wanted the bumper to absorb some impact, but didn't want it to be too squishy. This was accidentally tested by taking a hill too fast, which cause the car to arc nicely...

My printer (UpBox+) isn't happy printing TPU and having seen this design for a driveshaft mold for hot glue - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4334044 - I though "why not use a whole glue stick?" This driveshaft design uses a standard 7mm gluestick - you'll need 3 of them for each driveshaft. Cut them to 68mm each and give each end a gentle twist in a pencil sharpener to take the edge off (makes assembly a bit easier). The motor adaptor was something I'm testing to reduce the number...

Bought a SunnySky X2820 motor as the spec'd D3542 (DYS/Turnigy) motor wasn't available at the time. Unfortunately, the gearbox input shaft is too complex to remodel in TinkerCAD, so I just made an additonal coupler to link the motor to the standard input shaft. X2820 motors has 12.5mm hole spacing. Tip: Use some electrical tape to ensure the coupler sits snuggly in the stock Tarmo4 input shaft.

the original steering linkage seemed very loose, and also the ends where rubbing against my 115mm tyres when steering was locked to either side, so reduced the amount of space between linkage and printed bearing, and rounded the ends that go against the tyre.. Fusion360 file attached, I have used a 0.25mm offset (from original, so 0.5mm tighter overall round the bearing), but YMMV as per your printer... included are Fusion User Parameters (of 0.25mm at the moment), so you can just change this...

Replacement components to allow the use of 24x15x5mm bearings along the drive-train for the Tarmo4 project car. Same size as the diff output bearings, one bearing size for the entire project! Personally I kept shearing the main output and gearbox pinion gears or rounding out the inserts of the flex driveshafts. The aim was to move the weak point to the dog bones since they are far easier to replace. Every part is a drop in replacement for the original parts. Battery tray was raised 4mm to allow...

# Tarmo4 Chassis Mods for Autonomy Deck ### (or whatever else you want to mount up there...) Hi there -- here are all the mods that I made to the Tarmo4 chassis to support the addition of a small CPU and sensors, plus space for an additional battery. To support the upper deck, the easiest (and cheapest option) is to simply cut some lengths of 4mm threaded rod to whatever size you want (I think I used 95mm) and use nylock nuts for spacing. You can also buy (or print) spacers as required. I've...

spider gears made up from openscad script https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1588376, measurements taken from photos of gears, and revised after printing tests still working on this, but now these gears do mesh pretty well now, but I do not yet have the bearings to be able to fix the parts, and so cannot proceed to revise further - at the moment consider that this will NOT work with 3D printed gears, as are very small and there is too much friction for such tiny parts (at least in PLA) to take...
